So I have been making collection of Ogier's funniest expressions, and now that chapter 68 is out I have expressions to add to the collection.

Marquis Machina is particularly interesting in this panel because she's giving a very rare, very unique window into how the Archivistes thought about themselves:
Per Machina, the Archivistes gave meaning to their abilities by casting themselves as librarians. People must've thought, like they think of Noé, that they were a creepy clan with a dangerous power, but they held onto the belief that their powers exist for a noble purpose: recording and preventing the loss of memory. And perhaps, that being a way to prevent total death.
I find it moving because, as of chap 67, the Archivistes vanished from the historical record. Their ability did not prevent their disappearance. And Machina, in her small monologue, gives us the only glimpse at what they might've been.
And Noé, well, no one has explained to him what being an Archiviste means past the ability to read memories. There is no family tradition because he was abandoned, then enslaved, the bought and now treated as a scientific curiousity. At the beginning of the manga, it does seem he understands, but the knowledge only comes at the terrible cost of having to kill Vanitas, who he loves.

I think about this multiple times a year since 2022 it’s so stupid but I can’t get over it so I’m sharing here finally

and that dante told him about the hostage situation just like what vanitas was trying to do again in the catacombs but that would mean dante told noé word for word what vanitas said and noé memorized it to later use against him ↓
I know we’re all thinking Johann is the Spider guy but I’m left with hmmm at this dude being the only one looking at Johann, Vanitas and Noé with suspicion when Johann is telling them there’s a spy among the dhams. He’s also not at the theater, as far as I can tell. Is Johann protecting someone else?
Yeah, I was left with the impression that Johann is not the spy/culprit, but that he is aware of who it is and is protecting this person. I don't think his chat with Vanitas and Noé would be so calm otherwise (I might be wrong tho)
However, an interesting detail I just noticed here is that Johann says “a member of their precious family” instead of “a member of our precious family”.
If he's not the traitor, I wonder what's up with this distance...
Does he not consider the spy a part of the family anymore because treason is unforgivable? (And he's only protecting the culprit for Dante's and Riche's sake?)
Or could it be that Johann is loyal only to Dante and Riche and not very fond of the entire “Beehive” thing?
I have re watched some episodes where Johann showed up yesterday due to theories about him and some things that are pointed out.
And I'm not sure if anyone else has noticed, but at some point he mentioned to Dante to not get himself in trouble so he doesn't make Riche cry, HE DIDN'T MENTION THE REST OF BEEHIVE.
He seems very attached to Riche and Dante, like he's hugging them when they reunite and he's threatening Vani that he will kill him if he hurt Dante.
So Johann isn't really a closed off person in showing that he cares for someone.
But with kids in beehive, he didn't really interact with them.
Tbf people that were shown interacting with the kids were only Noé and Domi, and it was more so a background detail, but still...
Johann interacts with children in chapter, he looks like he is the firm brother figure to them despite his usual personality. Or couse he is more close to riche and dante, they were his first family and near to age.
