This is it. The happiness.
Rocky Mountains, Colourful florals, freshly cut grass and the wind in my hair. I took a moment to appreciate what is infront of me. This is it. The moment I have always been wanting since I was 13. My humble house, with a peaceful view and family together. “Moommmmmm! Moommmyy. Moommmy! Mom.” I sighed as I turn around “Yes Georgie?” He stands as tall as my knees and I thought to myself that he’s growing up too fast. My youngest child, and I won’t lie, my favourite. He looks up at me with those obnoxiously large black eyes that he stole from his father. His luscious black hair with light curls at the tips. Against his fair skin, his cheeks beamed up as though he applied blusher to his face. “Muum.” He smiles cheekily, in his tiny hands, he held on to his half eaten Apple. The juices from the fruit coated his mouth and followed down his neck on to his diamond shaped bib. “Yes honey?”. He stares at me again smiling. I bend down to tidy his hair and I won’t deny that his hands were sticky. “Muumm.” Nearly 2 years old, he knows how to mumble mum and dada. “Come on, let’s go wash our hands and wake everyone up for breakfast.” I picked him up and animated ran to the counter sink behind me. Georgie giggles so loudly that the boomer and beaver, our adopted large dogs had to see what is happening.
“Daaaada. Daaaadaaaaa.” Georgie mumbled as I was rinsing his hands and he points away into the hallway. The sun bare shine through our curtains from the balcony so that I can see I shadow approaching us. There, even after 15 years of marriage, he’s still the most beautiful person I have ever seen. He strolls towards us, attempting to open his eyes, adjusting to the morning sunlight. He rubs his eyes with his muscular arms and he turns around the corner avoiding us to go to the corner. “Dada. DADAAA. DADADADADAAA.” Georgie screams as he watches his Father walks away. “Honey, daddy is just going to the toilet. Don’t cry.” It doesn’t seem to be working. Even the dogs are whining outside the bathroom. Georgie points to the bathroom persistently. “You wanna go find dada?” He nods aggressively. “Ok! Let’s go.” Nick groans softly as he flushed the toilet and opened the door. I put Georgie to sit beside the counter top where our family toothbrushes are at. “You wanna brush your teeth together with dada?” Nick asked and Georgie danced sitting down excitedly. I kissed nick on his cheek, my lips pressing his facial stubbles and I whispered “I will go make breakfast and let the dogs out to the yard. You take care of this monkey for me okay?” He squeezed my butt and nodded.
I whisked 12 eggs together with chopped scallions, tomatoes, salt and pepper and made 6 servings. Of course, nick and I had a portion of 3 eggs each and half an egg for Georgie. The rest are split amongst the rest of the boys. Nick walks out with our youngest Son wrapped in his arms towards me, looking like a Super hero. As he approached me, I can smell the menthol from the toothpaste and his aftershave. He puts Georgie down in his baby chair and took over to wash the pan. I went into the older boys room to wake them up. Kissing each of them on their forehead. Waking them up accordingly to age, Gerald, our oldest Son, turning 17 in 1 month, Grantt, our second Son, 14 and our third Son, Gianni, 10. Georgie was a unplanned pregnancy but we decided to keep him and we so far have yet to regret anything. “Babe, come on, we are waiting for you outside for breakfast.” Grantt groans exactly like his Father as he relunctantly gets up with his eyes closed. “Come on, once we are done we breakfast we will go hiking.” He starts to speed up like a broken down car, gradually. I walked out and the table has been set by nick. Everything is in placed. Nick sitting at the end of the oval table that fits nicely the 6 of us. And Georgie places between us. Gianni sits opposite me and Gerald beside me, while waiting on Grantt.
After a light breakfast, we got ready to leave the house with the kids and our dogs and pack them in Nick’s truck. “Oh! Hold on Ma, I forgot to wear my socks.” Gianni dashes pass me the hallway outside our apartment as he barely makes it to the door closing. “I will wait for you at the truck!” I shouted as I walked towards the truck. “Okay!” A delayed response from him.
