W.I.P : Still adding details and background but I am so happy with how this is turning out! My favorite era is the 70′s for the fashion and revolution. As I stated before, I wanted to include trans women and non-binary people in my art.

Folk magick is a long, precolonial type of magick that is found in most early civilizations and indigenous groups. These are a few of the common herbs, plants, fruits and veggies we Filipinos used for spells, and everyday life! A lot of the time, we had to use with what we had medicinally and spiritually, and as an animistic society, we honored all plant life into our routine of being human. Want to learn more? We have a folk magick resources and classes available in our discord server! ✨🇵🇭😌

As a spiritual community, we cannot forget to include our nature allies in our minds. We must protect the biodiversity left we have on this earth and push for sustainability to survive as a species, a planet, humanity. Please go and support 30X30 lead by @centreforsustainabilityph, @kidsforkidsph & @gabemejia. Their goal is to call on the world and the worlds leaders to get their heads out of their butts and look at the reality. The Philippines specifically is one of the 17 mega diverse countries left and only 15% of our biodiversity is “protected” under NIPAS. Please continue to share updates and news on climate change, push leaders and authorities to look up, and make an impact as much as you can as an individual. We must carry the hope our generation has in order to look towards a much better and brighter future. Sustainability. Indigenous support. Be an active ally.
We’re planning on sharing more Filipino magick tips and ingredients on our Instagram as we progress more and more. We’re so grateful and thankful for everyone who has supported us! So far we are at almost 400 followers within a week of creating this account as well as 2100+ members on our discord! We’re so happy to be the resource hub for Filipino culture, magick and craft and we can’t thank you all enough. Here are a few plants that are known to bring prosperity, wealth and fortune in Filipino folk magick! Does your family have any of their own? Comment below!

There is a deep and long history in terms of queer/LGBTQ+ culture in the Philippines. Naturally, the Philippines was never a country that acknowledged the binary. Despite the Philippines having a rich history in queerness, the Philippines still struggles to take LGBTQ+ rights such as even donating blood or adopting children. We will be doing more post about queer history because there is SO. MUCH. MORE. Feel free to share your experience as a Filipino queer person in the comments, we would love to hear and amplify your voice. Also, one of our Mods recommended the organization @ bahaghari_phils, an LGBTQ+ movement in the Philippines to stay updated in Filipino queer activism!
Besides being the lead Graphic Design and Social Media Manager for our World Wide Community Hub, Diwatahan -- I am also managing schedules for the public to see. Designing the schedule as well as organizing is my specialty. Lots of people funnel into our discord sever through our Instagram or Tiktok so it’s important to make even a schedule look as aesthetically pleasing and welcoming as possible.
A design I did for my own small business. This design was later created on a tote bag via Screen Printing by Me. I used Krita for the design and art composition and used my own screen printing tools.
W. I. P : This is another concept design I have for our upcoming Diwatahan Zine, Showcasing Filipinos all over the world. The concept here is a morena woman in the bustling streets of the Philippines. A pedi-cab is in the background representing common folk. (Art by me, Vivien Jalapit)
August is coming to a close which means it’s slowly but surely becoming 👻 spooky season in the States, and the beginning of -ber months for the PH 🎄! We wanted to do more posts on common superstitions we probably heard of as a kid or from what our family and relatives would tell us. All the root of superstitions in the Philippines comes from a folk background in terms of spirituality, magick and practice. One thing I heard of a lot as a kid was Usog. My mom used to make me wear this bracelet as a baby until I got much older and grew out of it. Did you? Comment your experiences or stories below! What other 👻spooky folk traditions, stories or “superstitions” do you know and would like to share!

W.I.P : This will be used as a cover or insider of our upcoming Diwatahan Zine showcasing Filipino Artists around the world! I wanted to be sure to include all different backgrounds of Filipinos because our history is so complex. The woman on the left is a trans woman and the person the right is a nonbinary filipino with Vitiligo, a common skin condition within many people. (Art drawn and created by me, Vivien Jalapit)
