Other Mother is who Coraline's gonna grow up to be. Other Mother loves people for what they do for her. Her love is selfish, and she hates when people fall out of that requirement. She doesn't like Other Father talking because he usually says something that exposes her selfishness, so he resorts to well-hidden clues and word play.
Coraline learns to love her parents because Other Mother is controlling and selfish, but Coraline loves her parents because their neglect allows her to do whatever she wants. She doesn't love them, she loves what they can do for her. Also, she's a jerk to Wybie. Coraline hates when Wybie talks.
Other Mother won. She lives on in Coraline.
