Staining the apples didn't come up on the paper for me so I began painting the apples I'd cut in half and printing them Sometimes leaving them a few days and then painting over them again left different marks than previously as parts had fell off or decomposed gradually I thought it was interesting to print several times on to paper in order to see the difference with less paint as though the paint is also decomposing I also drew round these slices of apple in order to show the beauty within the lines which had been left during the process of it rotting. The textures within the apple as it did this became for me more visually stimulating and interesting as a viewer than a simple fresh apple. The excess paint still on it in these pictures is also very interesting to look at as it shows how much paint it has soaked in over the past 3 weeks. I found it important to keep using the same apples to show how gradually over time it's form and details change.
Thinking out ideas for experimentation -keen to work more minimal and simplified than usual -like the idea of the trace of the object having more significance and visual aesthetic than the object itself -Always wanted to use unusual objects to create marks -try out time based work to see how the marks change over a period of time
I like the idea of him painting with strong emotion, ones which a child probably hasn't experienced yet making it less meaningful for me as a viewer

More dramatic and expressive with music involved, interested in how the artists marks are determined based on how he reacts to certain sounds. More interesting as a performance piece

The idea of risk due to scale is something I'd like to consider within my own work.

I did not paint fast by lack of time or to break records, but simply because I did not need more time to do what I had to do and conversely, a longer time would have slowed down gesture introducing doubts, affected the purity of the strokes, cruelty of shapes, unity of the art work

Loves to paint excessively large paintings, because the risk is thereby higher.

Use of expressive Mark Making and short distance of time to complete good work.
Initial thoughts brought on by Seed Calendar
Intrigued by the idea of seeing how an object can change over a period of time (brought on by the use of the calendar representing each day)

Additionally, Stuart pioneered the utilization of organic mediums such as earth, wax, seeds, and plants to the vertical surface experience. These works that go beyond the bounds of traditional artistic resources articulate the complex processes through a language of exploration of both the physicality of materials and cultural and scientific issues not generally thought of in the vocabulary of art.
