VISITOR's GUIDE

I've grown up in a small town that, as a result of geographic proximity to a major national park, has developed into a natural tourist destination. This has imparted a certain idea that all places are to have a function or purpose. Whether it be service, production, entertainment, etc., there is reason behind the gathering and establishment of a place. ‘The Visitor’s Guide’ is an exploration of the idea that this small town near the heart of California has lost sight of its purpose and is now struggling to find its own identity. The photographs are tantamount to unanswered questions in that by simply asking, they begin to offer an understanding of what this town means without a need to have the answers of what it actually is. - John O'Connor (jw DOT oconnor AT gmail DOT com)
