I don’t know why people are okay with that, honestly. The implications that Sakura has finally become secure with her place in Sasuke’s life was given to us in 699, so all of this ‘wah wah I don’t matter’ feels…not redundant, but cliche, and cliche in a way that it’s such a fanfic thing to do, because the manga tells us that Sakura actually thinks otherwise. 

Remember, Sakura even said to Sasuke ‘If I still have a place in your heart..” in 693, not “if I have a place in your heart”. The difference in meaning is huge. 

Doesn’t this make it feel disjointed when you consider the prologue? Sakura was perfectly fine there, and it had a positive vibe to it, and she somehow goes from that to believing Sasuke wouldn’t come to help her out. Makes it look like an afterthought to me.

Making a post to clarify the interview extract concerning NH. I apologise in advance to the individuals whom I’ve corresponded with privately, for I realised upon retrospection I had been too generous in interpretation before.

The most objective interpretation of the interview is the following:

-The Last was not originally Kishimoto-sensei’s idea -Naruto was paired up with Hinata because Kishimoto-sensei was considerate of Hinata’s feelings (hence “pitiful”*)

This is Hinata before confessing, but after that she changed. That’s what I appreciate in her character, the ability to evolve past her weakness. She could stand with Naruto, she could help him, she could support him. The fact that she’s a pairing fodder is Kishi’s fault, not the character’s, there’s no point hating that. Anyway, that’s what I appreciated. Not that meek doormat she used to be beforehand and what she was in the movie. By doing that, they robbed me of what I liked about her. Granted, SP likes that shit, but I don’t. They also like hysterical Ino and tsundere Sakura, but I don’t either. This isn’t personal against Hinata.

I also disliked Hinata because some of her fandom is obnoxious, with their shitty comparisons and ‘best girl’ BS on 4chan, and overall being fans of headcanon!Hinata than real!Hinata. The headcanon!Sakura and headcanon!Sasuke crowdd also piss me off, again not personal against them in particular. Which is point by point what this lot is doing by pushing the last 'she loves me like i love ramen’ movie as canon and how can’t I accept their headcanons as valid because they’re not. I’d rather have the stronger girl Hinata turned out to be in the manga, and not that pathetic version of the movie.

To address your points:

I respectfully disagree. That sucker punch broke off her horn and pushed her right into Sasuke and Naruto. It’s teamwork. Kaguya is a Goddess Naruto by himself was getting tossed around like a rag doll. Sasuke was sent far far away and Kakashi needed sage chakra maxing out obito’s eyes resulting an asspull haxed susanoo to even stand up against her. Sakura did okay. She punched her. Sakura and Kakashi worked together.

It’s not like that is the only thing she did in the war. She healed Naruto, healed an army twice (2nd time with Tsunade), took out scads of Juubi clones, saved Naruto again, gave all her chakra to save Sasuke and then she punched Kaguya, resulting in her being sealed before she was able to heal Naruto and Sasuke AGAIN. Sakura punching Kaguya is not her only feat and it only adds to her list of feats. Seeing as how Kaguya lost her horn and Sakura punched her down after she was flying high up in the air it’s evident that she used her super strength. Hinata was not going to do anything like that. Sakura is Tsunade 2.0. Hinata may be better in her style of taijutsu but she is not a better fighter or a more powerful ninja. She has less feats than Sakura.

Sasori and Chiyo both were amazed by Sakura’s skills. Without her strength and intelligence the 4th kazekage puppet would have killed them. Without her antidote they would have died. Sasori was also amazed and irritated at her ability to read and evade his moves. She was also amazed by Sakura’s ability to heal while being impaled which also points to her genius as a medical ninja. Chiyo even said that Sakura didn’t need her help anymore and is on her way to surpassing Tsunade. Sakura helped. Maybe not in the beginning but during the battle she grew and contributed more and more. What does Sasori killing himself have to do with anything? It does not diminish Sakura’s feats or contribution. 

Sasori was a kage leveled shinobi with a kage leveled puppet giving him all of the power of a kazekage and Chiyo and chunnin Sakura were able to beat him down to that point. Even if he would have won they put up a great fight. Chiyo is probably kage leveled as well. She is a top medical ninja, puppet master and an experienced shinobi. Saying that Chiyo and Sakura only won because Sasori killed himself is not only diminishing Sakura’s feats but it’s insulting Chiyo in a way. By that logic Hinata is a better fighter than Chiyo too. After all Sasori killed himself. Would have loved to see her fight sasori in Sakura’s stead.

Sakura was able to garner praise from Sasori, Chiyo, Tsunade, Hashirama and Naruto and Sasuke were amazed by her progress and skills. Why are we still arguing about Hinata being a better fighter? Is she a better fighter than Tsunade? I mean they use the same style so if she is a better fighter than Sakura then she must at least have an advantage over Tsunade. 

Why do people have to argue about this still? It’s common knowledge that Sakura has surpassed Tsunade while Hinata isn’t on part 2 neji’s level. Hinata was never meant to be an overpowered ninja. She is Naruto’s love interest but in terms of power she is like the rest of the average k11 members. She is like Kiba, Choji, Shino etc. She isn’t on Sakura’s level. Say what you will about Sakura but she at least has some feats that prove that she surpassed  a sannin. Hinata doesn’t have anything like that. I like Hinata but her fans overrate her so much. Kicking all of the k11’s asses. Please.

Using the movie as proof for anything is stupid anyways since movie abilities aren’t really canon.

Manga Sakura: Works as a war medic for 2 days straight. Helps heal the alliance. Activates the yin seal. Summons a boss level summon . Punches a crater that takes down a horde of juubi spawn. Activates Creation Rebirth. Summons a bigger version of the boss summon and heals the alliance with Tsunade. Activates Strength of a Hundred. Gives enough chakra for Obito to open multiple dimensional portals. Punches the shit out of Kaguya. Still has enough in the tank to save Sasuke and Naruto.

Movie Sakura:

Is put on bed rest after healing Naruto.

SS and NH might not be “rival ships” but NH and NS are/were and a lot of the arguments centered around NS bashing Hinata and NH bashing Sakura, I’ve seen plenty of NH arguments that focus on how Sakura is a “selfish bitch” and a “useless kunoichi,” etc… that line of argument has died down since the ending but you still see the occasional “I used to hate Sakura but I like her now that she’s a NH cupid” posts in the SS tag of all places.

I used to loathe Hinata and NaruHina because of her fandom. Ive met a few nice people and the manga changed my mind. The crappy part of that fandom still exists though, and lately they have been very loud.

And the reason why most people (it’s not even about NH or Hinata fans, one of the main running jokes of the Naruto fandom is Sakura being “useless” even now along with Naruto being an annoying little shit) didn’t like Sakura is because in her introduction, she criticized Naruto for nothing even for being an orphan which Sasuke himself called her annoying for (in this instance, he wasn’t being affectionate, he meant it). I know it’s old and she ship has sailed on something from chapter 3 but that’s why a lot of people USED to hate Sakura until the chunin exams and beyond. Can you blame them? The entire series is aimed at making Naruto likable and relate able and when a character or even a person hates on him, people get defensive. It’s not just NH and Hinata fans, its the whole fandom except for NS and SS that’s to blame for Sakura hate. Please pin the right people on it instead of fueling the fire. 

Sakura was being a little bitch when she said that Naruto behaved the way that he did because of no parents. She was insensitive and out of touch with the subject, but she was saying the truth. This is acknowledged by Iruka in chapter 1, because he did it as well and this is why he understood the kid’s pain. What she said that was truly dumb was ‘not having parents was better’. When I was a kid, I often fantasised about running away from home when my parents refused me something and I had friends who said the exact same things that Sakura did there. It’s called being a sheltered 12 year old with no real clue about real life.

Naruto was being a little bitch when he transformed into someone else, with the objective of stealing Sakura’s kiss and to disgrace Sasuke’s reputation. At that point, he was the kind of guy that copped a feel when the lights went down, or started rumours about people that they don’t like. You do whatever with your life, but that’s far from likable, and I found his actions the most offensive even if he was still my favourite character back then. Liking a character and still being able to criticise it should be more standard. Disliking a character outside of petty reasons should also be the standard.

Sasuke was being a little bitch when he dismissed Naruto and Sakura, instead of working with them. I’ll remind you Sasuke dismissed Naruto for being a loser (which he is because of lack of parents) and said he wanted to kill Naruto because of his antics as well. He also took no offence at the truth Sakura said (that Iruka also acknowledged), he took offence at the ‘it’s better to have no parents’ part). So no, he’s not defending Naruto, he’s defending himself. His annoyance isn’t so great either, considering Sasuke’s’s blushing around Sakura the next day and waiting for her to wake up when he has no reason to.

Anyway, they were all being brats in the same equal amount, they were all wrong in what they’re doing, they were all in the beginning of their development. There’s a reason why Kakashi is like ‘I don’t like any of you and you’re all questionable ninja’ in the next chapters. There is no difference whatsoever between their situations. It’s true the concept of taste and how some things can be funny to some and other things can be funny to others, but that doesn’t exempt the reader from looking at the situation fairly.

Hinata and NH really have no relevance to SS, Hinata has never interacted with Sasuke and barely interacted with Sakura(a single dialogue line in 700 chapters) which is why she isn’t brought up as much, when she is brought up it’s usually as a response to someone else. Naruto himself isn’t seen as an obstacle and unlike certain other shippers who claim to love T7 but are fine with butchering their bonds to fit their preference we never had a problem with his and Sakura’s friendship, so there’s really not much friction on the SS side with NH, Hinata isn’t relevant and Naruto isn’t seen as competition, most of the mud slinging comes purely from the fandom side.

It’s not like SS doesn’t have a lot of bad apples(it’s a huge fandom and people in general tend to be asses online) but they’re usually focused on SNS, NS and SK.

We don’t care who thinks the movie is canon or not cause deep down everyone and you know it wont have the same signifcance as something that was personally written by Kishimoto and illustrated in his manga. SS was important enough that it got its closure in the manga and its romantic subplot was the one relevant for the plot. We know we have more development, it’s common sense. It is. Saying Sakura is stronger than a side character like Hinata is insulting. Implying they’re both on the same level is also insulting. Just like claiming Sakura can’t surpass Tsunade because of her blood and at the same time bringing up Hinata’s Hyuga bloodline is also insulting. (Is she supposed to splash with the blood in the fight or what..?) She’s even without special bloodline the strongest kunoichi of her generation, you can’t pull that against her, it’s what makes her sepcial.
