Male Babysitter ďźBen and Saxinďź
Fan Fiction of âThe White Olive Treeâ
01.
Ben always thought that Saxin had a crush on Song Ran. Until that day, when he saw Saxin and Rina embracing in a corner, he muttered to himself while leaning against the wall, âWhat is Saxin doing? Is he hugging a woman?â
Later, confirming from Song Ran that Rina was actually Saxinâs mother, Ben pretended to be stubborn.
On the way to the military outpost, Saxin walked ahead, looking angry, while Ben, seemingly leisurely, unconsciously quickened his pace. Saxinâs hair was slightly curly, and from behind, he looked like a little dog that had been soaked and then pulled out of the water. Ben stared at the back of Saxinâs head and suddenly felt an urge to reach out and pat him.
âHey...â Ben tried to call out to Saxin.
But Saxin, staring intently at the small building in front of him, said thoughtfully, âThis house has been abandoned for a long time. The windows on the top floor should be sealed.â
Ben cursed inwardly, âOh no.â
There was a sniper hiding upstairs, aiming at Li Zan who was defusing a bomb. Little did anyone expect that while Ben was rushing upstairs to deal with the sniper, Saxin was throwing stones at the sniper.
The sniper, hit by the stone thrown by the curly-haired boy, was furious and stopped aiming at Li Zan, firing several shots at Saxin instead.
âSaxin, you idiot!â Ben almost bit his tongue.
In the moment Ben leaped forward to save Saxin, a bullet grazed his left arm. He dragged Saxin to cover who was still trembling with fear.
âYour wound...â Saxin murmured.
Ben glared at him, âIf you dare run around again, I'll kill you first!â
Saxin pouted, with his eyes still fixing on Benâs bleeding wound. Ben looked at him with a hint of disdain but couldnât bring himself to say anything more.
Why are you looking at my wound for so long a time? Do you want to lick it a few times? Ben thought to himself.
Saxin, you troublemaker, always causing problems.
02.
Ben thought the problem must be that âthe city is too small.â Saxin, the âtroublemakerâ, was at it again. As thin as a stick, how dared Saxin attack the bodyguard of a hotel VIP? But seeing that Saxin admitted in front of everyone that Leina was his mother, Ben didnât mind saving him once more.
He effortlessly disarmed the gun aimed at Saxin and looked at the bodyguard who had tried to sneak up on him, feeling a sense of satisfaction.
âHow cool I am~ â Ben said.
But he didnât see the look of admiration and gratitude in Saxinâs eyes behind him.
Saxin thought to himself, âMaybe I should follow Benfrom now on.â
03.
However, Saxinâs idea changed after they arrived at the hospital.
Ben was still the same, dragging his injured arm and still flirting with the beautiful doctor. Unchanged.
Did Ben really want to find a Chinese wife? The hospital had been turned into a blind date meeting by him in an instant.
If Saxin had a mirror in front of him at that moment to see his own expression, he would definitely think he looked like a wronged husband.
After a while of daydreaming, Saxin looked up and saw the doctor stitching Benâs wound. He winced, but Benremained unfazed.
Saxin felt sour in his mouth, yet he sincerely admired Benâs bravery.
Although Ben always spoke indecently, acted like he had eaten Popeyeâs spinach when saving people. Saxin glanced at Benâs white shirt, which seemed never to be changedâ
The more he looked, the more he thought it looked like Popeye.
âHurry up, donât waste my time for drinking,â Ben said nonchalantly to the doctor.
The doctor scolded him for disregarding his own life.
Saxin glanced at Ben again, and had already thought of how to repay him for saving his life twice. He planned to make Ben a weekâs worth of cold spinach salad for dinner.
04.
Ben didnât know why, but after leaving the hospital, Saxinâs attitude towards him became strange. When Li Zan and Song Ran were around, Saxin could still chat with him occasionally, but whenever they were alone, there was only endless silence between them.
What was even stranger was that every night, Saxin would leave a lunchbox filled with cold spinach salad in front of Benâs door.
At first, Ben thought it might be poisoned, so he tricked Li Zan into taking a bite. When he saw that nothing happened to Li, he dared to taste it.
"Ugh..."
Both Benâs and Li Zanâs faces wrinkled like used tissues.
âThis is too sour. Is Saxin trying to poison us?â Ben couldnât help but complain.
Li Zan quickly shook his head, âThis is only for you. It has nothing to do with me. Iâm just a victim of your trick.â
Ben looked at the remaining spinach in the lunchbox and, in the end, couldnât bear to throw it away. In times of war, when supplies were scarce, wasting even a single grain of rice was a sin, not to mention rare green vegetables.
He ate it while frowning, but he couldnât help but wonder: How did Saxin know he liked spinach?
05.
Saxin thought Ben wouldnât like the spinach he made, and he probably threw it away secretly. But he still kept his silent promise and continued to deliver spinach to Ben for a week.
On the eighth day, Saxin stopped this time-consuming, labor-intensive, and gold-wasting activity. Song Ranâs vegetable garden had just started and couldnât provide mature spinach. All of these were bought from the market at a high price.
He could only comfort himself by thinking âBetter safe than sorry.â
On the eighth night, after Ben finished his tasks and returned to the dormitory, he found nothing at the door.
âWhere's my spinach?â He looked around again and again. âWho stole my spinach? Li Zan?"
Li Zan, who was being interviewed by Song Ran, sneezed.
06.
At nine in the evening, Saxin had already prepared to go to bed. There was only a dim lamp in the room for his night reading.
Suddenly, he heard a rustling sound by the window.
âWhoâs there?â Saxin got up alertly and shouted loudly.
Maybe it was a wild cat. After he shouted, there was no more noise.
Just as Saxin was beginning to relax, âBang!â The window behind him was opened, followed by the sound of military boots landing.
He turned around in a panic and saw that the person standing by the window was Ben.
âYou...are you crazy?â Saxin quickly tightened his open pajamas and took two or three steps back.
He had only seen this kind of plot in American TV dramas, where a high school boy climbs through the window to find his beloved girl.
Ben looked around Saxinâs room with interest. They were both men; there was nothing to be shy about.
âWhereâs my spinach?â he asked Saxin.
Saxin was puzzled, his eyebrows knitted together, âAre you trying to blackmail me? Do you know how expensive spinach is?â
Ben raised his eyebrows and pushed Saxin to the corner of the bed.
Saxin tried to keep his balance and pushed Benâs shoulder, âI'm not your babysitter. Why should I cook for you every day?â
Ben couldnât help but laugh, âI think youâre the baby, and Iâm your babysitter.â
Saxin glared at him and retorted, âAre you planning to climb through the window to find Song Ran, but you came to my place by mistake?â
Ben was speechless. He was a flirt, not a philanderer. Climbing through a girlâs window in the middle of the night, if that got out, his reputation would be ruined.
âNo, I came here for you,â he gently touched Saxinâs shoulder.
Sure enough, Saxin fell back on the bed like a stunned little dog.
âWhat are you going to do?â He grabbed a pillow and held it in front of his chest.
Ben said that Saxin should learn how to pay back to his savior correctly. So what is the attitude one should have towards a savior? He needed to teach Saxin a lesson.
07.
Saxin was really fed up with Ben, who dragged him out of bed in the middle of the night to cook stir-fried spinach. Ben claimed that he was tired of eating cold spinach salad and wanted to try something new.
Watching Saxinâs back as he busied himself in the kitchen, Ben couldnât help but smile. He thought that maybe he didnât necessarily have to find a Chinese wife.
What would he eat next time? He hadnât decided yet.
Ben looked in the direction of Saxin and licked the corner of his mouth with a smile.
08.
The next day, Song Ran got up early and, as usual, washed her hair with rice water in the hallway. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw someone coming out of Saxinâs room.
The figure didnât look quite like Saxinâshe rubbed her eyes, and when she opened them again, there was no one in sight.
She only caught a whiff of a perfume that reminded her of Ben in the air, and then she saw Saxinâs furry head poking out of the door, staring in the direction where the person had left for a long time.
In that moment when Saxin turned his head, Song Ran saw that his lips were red and swollen.
Song Ran thought to herself, she had discovered the real big news.
