Dominate Humbly

As a longtime fan of Shonda Rhimes's work, I felt so close to that creative process that I longed to know and understand and do. I felt like I was a part of something -- a community of people watching TV together. It was big — so big that it's strange (yet so deeply understandable) to watch Kerry Washington announce that she's leaving Twitter. Scandal was THE show that started live tweeting back in the day. It was THAT big of a deal, and Kerry's exit really puts into perspective how that TV-watching community has changed thanks to all the algorithms and buyouts.

Anyway, watching Scandal as an adult is going to be fun. I always understood Olivia and Fitz. I got why people liked them together. But I rooted for Jake the second that he walked into the picture. I had no choice when Scott Foley had recently (more recently than Felicity) played Henry Miller on Grey's Anatomy and ripped my heart out in the process. But I also remember things getting really dark and weird (more so than Scandal's usual) with Jake there towards the end. Right before Olivia and Fitz got back together.

So, I'm curious to see what I think of all of that now. I'm mostly just excited to experience the absolutely heart-racing speed of this show.
