251 word gloves/vintage drabble i forgot to post! this was mostly a character/relationship study.
The word made Vintage pause, pressed up against the other inkling, his hands framing the other's face.
Gloves looked nervous, despite his desperate attempts to mask it. It made Vintage raise a brow. He'd never really known Gloves to be outwardly nervous. Yet, here the other was, looking down at Vintage with shifty eyes and trembling lips. He felt the hands resting on his hips tighten their grip.
"What is it?" Vintage asked, his normally flat voice softened into something he reserved only for Gloves.
"It's just that, well..." Gloves took a deep breath. "I, um... I'm not sure how to... I've never..."
Vintage tilted his head, his brow slightly furrowed as he waited for Gloves to continue. When the other did not, Vintage let out a soft sigh, a rare and tiny tilted smile on his lips that only Gloves could ever manage to get out of him.
"Just follow my lead," he advised, thumbs rubbing gently against the skin of Gloves' cheeks, and watched in satisfaction as they darkened green with a blush. "You might yet learn something."
Gloves relaxed the slightest bit in Vintage's hold, but just as quickly tensed back up.
"Hey," Gloves said, a rising, indignant edge in his voice, "was that supposed to be a jab at-"
Vintage didn't let him finish, pulling Gloves down and rising up to meet his lips, silencing the other inkling with a kiss. He only just barely managed to stuff down the laugh that threatened to break free.
