NET NEUTRALITY - WHY YOU SHOULD CARE
A lot of people have been saying - Why should we care? This canât be real, I donât do politics, or âIâm not in the USâ or âtumblr only has kidsâ,
Please PLEASE be informed, NET NEUTRALITY IS IMPORTANT, look at the other hundreds of posts on tumblr that will explain it 100 times better than me, but the TLDR of net neutrality gone IS -
- THE INTERNET would be split into packages. E.g. Messaging, streaming etc.
- THAT MEANS prices could be inflated, and this makes NO ROOM for innovation. You know youtube that started from nothing? or facebook? NEW INNOVATE IDEAS wouldnât be able to bloom as COOPERATES would essentially MONOPOLIZE what you can and cannot use
- Different companies could advertise FAST LANES exclusive to THEM, like company A could say âWE HAVE FASTER FACEBOOKâ while company B could be like âWE HAVE BETTER STREAMINGâ, ALL SHOULD BE EQUAL YOU SHOULDNâT HAVE TO CHOOSE BETWEEN PACKAGES
- This also means that sites like AO3 that are crowdfunded WOULD BE SHUT DOWN. This means many cannot access tumblr because THEY DONâT HAVE THE MONEY.
- They also have the freedom to MEDIATE the internet. Essentially, show YOU news THEY WANT YOU to see, and BLOCK everything else. Sound familiar?
- THERE IS NO BENEFIT, TO US, THE CONSUMER, ITS JUST TO FEED GREEDY COOPERATES MORE MONEY AND INCREASING THE GAP BETWEEN COOPERATES AND US, AND THEY CAN LIMIT OUR FREEDOM OF SPEECH
YOU SHOULD CARE. They want to send us DECADES back, they want to have CONTROL AGAIN like they did with CABLE. DONâT GIVE IT TO THEM. DONâT GIVE OUR FREEDOM OVER.
