6. After answering the empty boxes, click on Transaction. You will see the photo below. Then click on APPLY FOR CLEARANCE.

7. A pop-up box asking for your confirmation will appear. I know you’re reading this mainly because you’re a newbie, so choose NEW on the Application Type. For the Presented ID, just put what kind of card will you present for identification. Examples are SSS ID, Philhealth ID, Police clearance, etc.

8. After clicking on the I Agree, an Important Reminder pop-up will appear. You can choose between English and Tagalog language. I wonder why they don’t have that option on the sign up form. Don’t forget to click Okay.

9.  Now choose the NBI branch you’ll be going (you can scroll or type directly), the date and time, purpose, purpose detail and payment option.

10. Filling the required information will then show you the amount to pay. After clicking the payment method of your choice, another pop-up will appear. It shows the reminder regarding the payment procedure.

11. After clicking Proceed to Payment, a new tab will appear showing your reference number, amount to pay and a link to view and save the instruction online.

12. Click on the link to see the payment instructions courtesy of DragonPay.

13. If you’re done with the registration, the last pop-up box will appear. Congratulations, you just registered yourself on NBI. You deserve a cookie.

If you’re whining that you don’t own a gadget with internet access or there’s no even near internet cafes at your place, walk-in transaction at NBI is the same with the online application. The difference though is that you have to fall in line and wait for people to finish their online transaction.

I suggest you do the online registration then pay via Bayad Center or any available banks.

STEP 2 OF 2: PAYMENT METHODS

Because I am not an expert, I will only show two payment methods: the Bank (over the counter) and Bayad Center.

For Bayad Center, you just have to go to the nearest Bayad Center or LBC branch with your reference number. It’s best to print or copy the Payment Instructions from DragonPay. Bring a valid ID as well.

For banks over the counter, it’s the same with the Bayad Center. Also, fill up the form and double-check if everything is correct. Ask a staff or the guard if you don’t understand anything. DO NOT ASK STRANGERS.

It’s best to go to the bank or Bayad Center before or after lunch break so you won’t get caught in the rush hour.

STEP 3 OF 3: APPOINTMENT SCHEDULE

This is the most crucial part of the process. Even if you did step 1 and 2 but did step 3 late (there’s an expiration date of your payment as shown in your payment instruction) then all of the effort is wasted.

Reminders to first-timers:

* COME EARLY. If you appointed your schedule on AM, make sure you finish your appointment before AM ends and PM starts (i.e. 12:00 PM).

* BRING ALL THE NECESSARY PAPERS. As much as possible, bring a valid ID, police clearance, birth certificate and other papers for identification, especially if you have a namesake.

* HAVE YOUR BEAUTIFICATION KIT READY for the photo taking. I cringe whenever I see my NBI clearance with my haggard face.

* PREPARE P5 for the envelope. So expensive, right?

And if you’re done with the process, CONGRATULATIONS! You are now a person with clean records! Yehet!

That’s how folks how easy it is to get your NBI clearance, as long you don’t have a namesake.I hope this helps a lot~

The only stupid thing I did upon applying for my job interview is finishing an e-book deadline. My deadline was on 7PM, like an hour before my job interview.

I told my mother to wake me up at 6AM so I can finish the e-book on time. Then I woke up at 6AM then decided to sleep at 8AM. I totally regret waking up at 10AM then struggled to finish the e-book on time. I texted my mother to ask permission to carry the notebook so I can finish it while on my way to my first ever job interview.

I first got lost going to the Division Office to give the duplicated house key to my mom (coz she’s in a meeting) then sweated through a long queue at MRT (nothing new, seriously). I went back and forth in McDonald’s looking for an internet café to send the e-book and wait for my friend who recommended me a.k.a. Princess. In the end, I chose the job interview. Goodbye P480.

I met Princess through Twitter, with her username @princess_poral, as a KHH (Korean Hip-hop) blogger. She’s nice, bubbly and informative. She knows a lot, like A LOT of stuff regarding KHH. Her knowledge level is senpai god level while mine is noob. She recommended me the job interview because she works there and they need a new agent. Just perfect because I was looking for a job.

We ordered food in McDonald’s (she treated me a McRib) then she bought some albums for an event the next day. After that, we had a loooong walk to her office up to the point of drinking the ice-melted Sprite drink because of dehydration.

Guess who became an instant McDo endorser.

Before the interview, we had some more of spazzing. I was calm and confident while waiting for my interview. I thought I was prepared. I have my resume, my new outfit, my usual self and some confidence. But when the interview began, I knew I was an epic fail.

I forgot to change clothes (I was wearing my Born Hater shirt and I brought my office sexy outfit), which was one of the reasons why I failed the interview. Another thing was that I was on my submissive mode. I hated myself during the interview coz I was like a shy little kid talking to a relative in a family reunion. Lastly, I looked like applying for a job desperately with no confidence at all.

When I went out of that room, I knew I was not going to pass. I expected my resume will just go through a shredder. I assumed the interviewer thought I was too young and naïve for that shit.

I felt so embarrassed in front of my friend. She recommended me but I only disappointed her. I was between ashamed and disappointed.

I think I was all of a sudden engulfed in depression. But then I reminded myself it was only my first time. And no one is fucking perfect, unless you’re Beyoncé.

Despite the first failure of my life as an adult, I still pushed myself to get job. I know that I, merely a college undergrad with no job experience, can still get a job in the professional concrete jungle. And that should be the same with you. This is just my first time, I’m sure I’ll be able to get succeed soon.

Just wait and I’ll be filthy rich.

On June 1, my mom woke me up early in the morning to help her on cleaning her classroom. I went home at around six. I ate breakfast at a nearby carinderia. Seriously, the food there is so good and servings are huge. When I got home I did not dare to close an eye for sleep. I was traumatized by my previous experiences. Being late on the first day was not one of my plans.

A big paradox to my plan, I went out of the house at around 12:30. As the jeep started to cruise the busy streets of Makati, I’ve realized that I was running late. I checked my phone for every minute that passed by. I also got a bit lost on my way, thank goodness the guards are kind enough to help me. My feet stepped inside the building about nine minutes late. I ran immediately to the security, finding out the NHO starts at 2PM.

I was between relieved because I was not late and mad because I have to wait for an hour in that building. But what can I do, I was already there anyway.

At the struck of 12 midnight er, 2PM, I followed a queue. There I met two crazy otakus named Jhean and Anamon (her name is long, that’s the nickname I gave her). At least somehow I didn’t felt lonely. Another crazy girl who joined them was Alex. We were already bullying Jhean because of her height and elementary kid look. Before the NHO began, we also met two guys and I forgot their names. OTL We were just laughing nonstop like the noisy clique in a class.

The NHO started with passing requirements then introduction about ourselves by the format name, nickname and something interesting about yourself. I stated in the last that I’m a fanfic writer. A lot of newbies were otakus, like wow. And there’s like two Kpop fans, me and Charm. /sighs/

Then we were introduced to the company’s history, facilities, rules and regulations and other stuff. I just wish they would make a map of the place and guide on how to work on important papers (like filing an OT). Come on, we can’t absorb all of the info in a snap. I ain’t no genius with super sharp photographic memory.

After the NHO, we were given a certificate, showing that we finished our NHO, and our training schedule. That’s when I realized I wasn’t going to be with them because we were in different accounts. Like dude, I just found a clique that I can somewhat feel I belong with… oh shit.

I wish I took notes on everything. Idiot.

Reverse chronological resume is used by employees with experience because the main star of your resume is well, your job experiences (especially related to the one you’re applying to). Your experiences are listed usually in reverse chronological order with your most recent job first up. It also has an objective above the list of work experiences. Adding OJT experiences, education background, skills, certificates and other stuff show that you know how to roll the dice in the game.

This resume is the most attractive for employers because it's easy to see what kind of an employee are you. If they can see you had a good record in you previous jobs, 99% chance you are a good worker. And of course, companies love having good and skilled employees.

Functional resume, the one I used in my applications, is the perfect style for fresh graduates, undergrads and high school graduates. It also useful for people who have gaps in their work history, changed jobs often and moving into another career industry (e.g. from medicine to teaching). This format focuses on educational background and/or skills. Unfortunately, this is a bit unattractive for companies if not styled well.

My mistake in using this format is not double-checking the details (which caused me the failure of my very first job interview) and not adding pictures and more fancy stuff (e.g. skills and extracurricular activities; also caused me the failure of my second job interview). If you want to use this format, I advise you to use this format:

And the last one, Chronological-Functional is the mix of the two mentioned earlier. They are used by the blessed ones a.k.a. people with good educational background and working experience. It starts with a summary of skills and achievements relevant to the job you are applying for. Then it is then followed by your previous job experiences (in reverse-chronological order), educational section and your other skills.

This is the kind of resume that will surely get you a job. But please don’t attempt to use this if you have neither or don’t even dare make up stuff. Unless you wanna be a laughingstock.

There are other things you need to take note in resume:

Spelling and grammar – these two come together like a pair of socks. If one is missing, then it’s no use at all. Most of the people who check resumes have eagle eyes for these two most common mistakes. It is a big turn off especially for companies that require the use of the English language.

Format – fonts that are good for resumes are Times New Roman, Calibri, Arial, Helvetica or Georgia. Font size standard is 11 or 12, 14 or 16 for header. Bold or italicize specifications instead of using another font. And only use black ink to avoid your resume to be a sight for sore eyes.

Keywords – keywords are well, words that ring a bell when someone sees it on resume. Like for example, you are applying as call center agent. Most common keywords are good English (because the language is your ultimate weapon), flexible (time will be an inevitable factor in your call center career), responsible (a green light saying you’re not a call center hopper), on time (companies like punctual employees) and managed (this is a very powerful word, meaning you can overcome huge things).

Action verbs –action verbs are powerful in describing your accomplishments and experiences because it gives a spotlight for your skills and your abilities related to the job you are applying. As what stated in www.wikihow.com/Make-a-Resume, choose verbs that describe your responsibilities and then make sure to begin the descriptions of your duties with these verbs.

Just remember, not only a good resume is your weapon, it’s also your confidence. Be proud of what you have in your resume.
