The 2 mate theory that was exclusive to Throne of Glass and that we have not seen a single hint of in A Court of Thorne and Roses. In Throne of Glass the 2 mate theory makes perfect sense, Aelin and Rowan are the two main characters. The only way it would make sense in ACOTAR would be between Feyre/Tamlin/Rhysand (which I'm curious to know more about that whole dynamic. Did Tamlin feel a bond click into place or not). However, there are a group of people using it to say that it's the same for Lucien/Elain and Azriel/Elain, with Lucien/Elain being the fake bond (no surprise there, and also some people adding Gwyn to that dynamic as well). And it is just stupid. What use does this two bond theory have between Lucien/Elain/Azriel? It adds nothing to the story like it did for Aelin and Rowan. Tell me? What does it add to the story? It adds nothing? Who benefits from the 2 mate theory, fake bond in ACOTAR? No one? Who did benefit in TOG for keeping two of the most powerful fae away from each other, Meave?
Also, let us not forget that Lyria wasn't even his mate. Meave manipulated them both and made them believe there were mates. Meaning that Lyria's true mate is still out there, waiting for someone who will now never come to them. That was killed for Meave's sick and twisted needs. It just doesn't work in ACOTAR unless it was with Feyre/Tamlin/Rhysand. It literally makes no sense for it to be with Lucien/Elain/Azriel. It's stupid and a theory that needs to be dropped and remains in the TOG universe where it originated from and for, and where it actually adds purpose to the story unlike in ACOTAR. Thank you and goodnight.

hi! what are your thoughts on Azriel's bonus chapter? the contrast between the first part (Elain + Rhys) and the second one (Gwyn + Clotho). Specially the contrast with the behavior of his shadows with Elain and than with Gwyn + the contrast in meaning of "a thing of secret, lovely beauty" (the necklace x the image of Gwyn). And the possible meaning of "something restless settling in him" + "something sparked in Azriel's chest".
Hi nonnie! The great thing about being in Australia is we donβt get the bonus chapters so once again I had to hunt it down. I would also like to highlight that I do not ship Elriel but will do my best to keep my personal bias out of this response! Also, no harassment/bullying, if I see any you will be reported to tumblr. Iβm not 100% sure if this is anti azriel but if any of his fans find that so let me know and Iβll change his tag to the anti tag?Β
Overall my thoughts are on this chapter is that it was nice to see the point of view of Azriel because he is character thatβs often in the shadows (no pun intended) and I did like getting a bit more insight into him but it also left me feeling uncomfortable. This got incredibly long so Iβm sorry to everyone who is planning on reading the mess of words below! Stay hydrated during this adventure!
What I find interesting at the point of Azriel and Elain running into each other is when Azriel receives the gift from Elain and mentions his own gift.Β
Itβs interesting that he says that, that in that moment heβs concerned about the mate bond between Lucien and Elain and almost worried to overstep some form of boundary but as we know that concern leaves just moments later after the gifting. Another important key is that his shadows skittered back at the sound of her of her soft breath, that they are prone to do that when sheβs around. With that information I would have loved to get just bit more on why? Why do they skitter back when Elain is around? Is it because heβs shy? Is it because he has feelings for her? But then, why does that not happen around Mor considering that heβs been in love with her for 500 years. Do the shadows recognize the mate bond between Elain and Lucien and this is their way of telling Azriel to back down but he doesnβt listen to them? I hope that weβll get more information on this in later books, especially after we see how his shadows react around Gwyn.
We see in the scene of him putting on the necklace around her neck that he knows itβs wrong. And all of a sudden he doesnβt care. During this point, I also think itβs safe to assume that Lucien can feeling something going on. I mean, heβs only a level away and the bond is right there. I refuse to believe that he didnβt feel/sense something was going on in those brief moments.Β
Now, this is part where I start to get uncomfortable with this whole gift scene because they just shared a tender moment and all of sudden heβs thinking about her her breasts and sex, how is c**k strained against his pants. Itβs just a jump that happens out of nowhere and is just such a book/movie scene that I canβt find it romantic? Also, for him to believe he could have just this moment is false as weβve seen his history with Mor. Heβs been in love with her for 500 years and for him to think just kissing Elain would somehow ease his urges is silly from my point of view.
Letβs now move to the interaction with Rhys. Like, this boy really tried to play off what could have just happened? Azriel ignores it and just statesΒ βwhat if the cauldron is wrong?β, also ignoring Rhysβ questioning of Mor (which is silly that Azriel would completely ignore that and not hint at anything). Next is another part I donβt like. Where he states the following:
Personally to me, it hints that he only has feelings for Elain because she was given to another, but also almost stating like sheβs an object using the wordΒ βgivenβ. Mates arenβt given, they are in my eyes blessed to be with eachother. And to also say that Lucien doesnβt deserve her? Give me one good reason Azriel why he doesnβt? What makes you so much better than Lucien? What makes you deserve her? Not to mention the idea of a blood duel, because that would get Elain falling right into your arms. Also, does Azriel really think Lucien is the kind of male that would ask for a blood duel? I think it shows how little both Rhys and Azriel know of his character if they think that. Let us not forget that he hasnβt thought about a future outside of just sleeping with Elain, and Iβm sure the same goes for Elain on a future with Azriel.Β
Gwyn/Azriel ft Clotho. 501 years later we have made it to the next part, Gwynβs appearanceΒ in this scene and the reaction of Azriel.Β
Gwynβs scene is started by saying the shadows did not warn him. Now, if they warn him about others why did that not warn him about Gwyn being present? Next, we have his shadows peering over his shoulders to look at her. The shadows want to look at her, compared to them skittering away when Elain simply took a breath. Compare this also to when Gwyn breathes out, one of his shadows darted out to dance with it before twirling back to him. Like it heard some silent music. With this, someone could argue that the shadow mistake the visible breath as another shadow but then that meanβs his shadows would do this on a regular basis, yet this is the first time we have seen this. There is something about Gwyn that makes his shadows curious, that makes them want to dance.Β
A moment to discuss the whole,Β βdo you sing?β scene. If that doesnβt make you giggle a little you have an ice cold becauseΒ that was kind of cute.Β
We also have the cutting ribbon scene, where once again his shadows are calm, content just sitting on his shoulder and watching her. You canβt deny that this isnβt important. It is now the third time we have a mention of his shadows, and each mention has been positive, compared to the two negative times with Elain, the women he has feelings for. Oh but wait, as heβs leaving her he could have sworn his shadows sung in answer. Very interesting that his shadows are reacting like that to Gwyn, I donβt believe theyβve done that around Mor either so there is something there for sure. On a slightlyΒ darker note, Iβm curious to know how his shadows reacted to him saving her if they are acting like this now?Β
Now, this is the part that causes much controversy within fandom: Azriel giving the necklaceΒ to Clotho to pass onto Gwyn. I see many people saying that giving Gwyn a rejected gift is a low blow, and the fact that he thought he wouldnβt see her as more than friend could point not to nothing romantic. However, he also only thought of Elain as someone to sleep with and hadnβt thought about a future with her. A slight similarity in not seeing what the future holds with a potential friendship with Gwyn and a possible romance with Elain, which is interesting because is Azriel just not a guy that looks to the future? Though, with this we also see that something sparked in his chest upon hearing what Clotho said about the gift making Gwyn happy. I wish we had more of that, a little hint of what that spark could be. Though, we also get to know that he is picturing her wearing it, thinking about her how her eyes will light up at seeing the necklace. We cannot ignore also those last two lines. Buried the image deep down, where it glowed quietly. A thing of secret, lovely beauty. I think this hints at something, whether it be a possible friendship or romance, it hints at something.
I also find it interesting how in that moment of imagining Gwyn wearing the necklace he completely forgot about Elain wearing the necklace. The only thing in his mind we the look in her eyes, which bought a smile to his face.Β
Azriel as a character is interesting, however, I wish his actions with Mor, Elain & Gwyn where perhaps better thought out. For him to be in love with Mor for 500 years and then suddenly move onto Elain and now the possibility of Gwyn? I just think SJM could have done so much more with these. Some form of acknowledgementΒ of his feelings on Mor, even just a small glimpse during the bonus chapter would have also been wonderful because we donβt really hear it from him. I also believe thatβs one the reasons why some people donβt like Azriel. Which is fully to blame on SJM and her shitty writing about these three different relationships he holds with each of them.Β
Β Once again, no bullying/harassmentsΒ will be tolerated.Β
Let me highlight that the idea of F/reya being High Queen is completely ridiculous, she shouldnβt even be High Lady (the only reason she High Lady is because sheβs his mate). Please note, that I also feel like she should not be High Lady of Spring back in the start of the series.Β
To start with, she has no political experience and it seems that even during her time at the Night Court & High Lady we havenβt seen anyone teach her about the politics of Pyrthian. I mean, she probably has very little knowledge about the politics within the human world considering she didnβt know how to read. This lack of knowledge is incredibly dangerous as we have seen with the antics in the Summer Court. She is also incredibly reckless as we have seen through what she did to the Spring Court. With the Spring Court some people like to argue that Tamlin deserved it, but thatβs the thing Tamlin deserved some form of revenge not the thousands of innocent lives within Spring. And then R/hys and F/reya are trying to dictate what Tamlin does with R/hys visiting every now and then. Is R/hys even suitable to be High Lord as well considering heβs pulling something like that? Let the man rebuild his court, he doesnβt need you poppingΒ in and out whenever you please.Β Β
We have seen sheβs been taught a little bit about the history of Pyrthian but that is hardly enough knowledge to rule a court. She seems to only learn things of the political workings of the place when something happens. I also put some blame on the IC for not teaching her more, for not preparing her more and on R/hys for thinking with his d**k and not his actual head.Β
Plus, not to mention the blatant favourties F/reya and R/hys have for Velaris compared to the Hewn City and the Illyrian territories. Though, sometimes I question their actions in Velaris seeing as they seem to be building home after home for themselves and the place Nesta was described to be living makes me question the state of other buildings.Β
Not sure on the anti F/reya and R/hys tags so if you know them, help a girl out?

i find it funny when stans say shit like,Β βf/eyre sacrificed so much for pyrthian, she died and became fae, did all this and blah blah blah, therefore she deserves to be high ladyβ.Β
yes. she did that. hats off to her. that still doesnβt mean she should be high lady?? you need political knowledge AND experience for a position like that?? it doesnβt matter what she did, she still has no formal education and probably canβt do basic math?? i donβt care if she taught herself to hunt, she has no idea how to run a court?? sheβs like 19?? most leaders nowadays are in their late 50s - 60s most of the time? and theyβve spent their life learning politics and war and what to do?
that is why i say she should not be high lady. because she lacks the education, experience and right knowledge to run a country. she could die for prythian 20 times over, and that would never be enough to be high lady.Β
Not to mention people think that she should be High Queen or whatever which makes no sense at all with her limited political knowledge of Pyrthian. And after the whole incident with what she did to Spring Court I would not trust her in any political setting.

It baffles me beyond belief how people can support a ship that can so easily put down a female characters because they are a threat to the ship. Putting down Mor when sheβs been nothing but kind to Azriel, and patient with his antics around her. If I was Mor I would have ripped his head off centuries ago because of his unwanted pinning. And now Gwyn, constantly with these evil lightsinger theories (which makes no sense because light is evil but Azrielβs shadows arenβt????). Are you really that threatened by the other female characters coming and showing some attention to Azriel. Personally, to me it shows:
Β 1. An unsteady belief in your ship if you feel you need to attack other females.Β
2. Also shows how you think Azriel can easily switch between his love for female characters.Β
What's w the obsession in calling Gwyn a maid lol https://twitter.com/starseterncl/status/1462419823321825289?t=stxY6J5n8-ehW6fwfaOeOA&s=19
I'm so confused by this? Do they ship gwynriel and they're calling her Gwyn a maid? The artwork is gorgeous though. But the justification that being a maid is hard work in itself, and I agree it is hard work but Gwyn is not a maid. She is a priestess, a SA survivor, a member of the one of the bad ass female trio's the Valkyries, someone that could quite possibly also make Beron shake in his boots.
Okay, through some stalking I think they ship Az & Elain, which gives explains a lot because they always seem to be putting down the other female characters. Considering the also liked/retweeted a tweet that stated Gwyn should be the red carpet for the IC at the met gala. Honestly, this is also why I stay from twitter. God.
Also, I realised someone will find this and be like "SHE'S MORE THAN AN SA SURVIOUR" and yes, I know, but you can't dismiss that surviving that is such an important part of her story and character.
