Omorose Ali is considered one of the more newer workers to the Skarloey Railway, given that she joined them around the early 2010’s. She moved to Sodor from London at around twenty years old, but started working as part of the engines’ crews at twenty five. That’s when she took her place as Duncan’s most recent driver, working with him and their fireman for roughly ten years now. She worked with Duncan and the others for about three years before Noah joined their group.

Before Omorose became Duncan’s driver, she worked previous railway staff jobs part time; station guard, wash down cleaner, fire lighter, etc. With five years of experience under her belt, Duncan’s previous driver asked her if she would like to take his place as Duncan’s main driver. He trusted her to help look after Duncan and their crew before he left on medical leave. And ever since then, she’s been working with Duncan and his crew ever since.

With her previous years working on the railway, she grew somewhat accustomed on what to expect from the engines. And she knew that if she was going to work with Duncan, she would have to handle his constant grumbling, his temper, and especially be careful with his “Rock N Rolling.” So, with her first days as his new driver, she had to get used to back talks and complaining from the engine. With time, she grew accustomed on how to handle Duncan’s grumbling. Nowadays, the two of them get along fairly well. Duncan grumbles and complains, while Omorose makes sure that his attitude doesn’t affect the work and passengers. If there are passengers causing disturbances to the engines, (getting on Duncan’s nerves really) then Omorose will be there as a defuser if it gets too much. She will speak up if a passenger is being disruptive to the others, or causing delay on journeys. If something is wrong she will be one of the first of the crew bring it to attention to get it sorted out as quickly as possible.

The biggest reason as to why Omorose left London was to gain her own independence from her family. But more specifically, to distance herself from her father. Omorose grew up with three older sisters, her mom and her dad. Many of her clothes were hand-me-downs from her sisters and mom, so in a sense of fashion, most of her style wasn’t her own. So, at a young age, she started working part time jobs to earn a bit of cash flow for herself. This dedication for independence made her mom extremely proud, but not to her father. He grew worried that his daughter would focus too much on herself, instead of focusing on the idea of settling down to start a family of her own.
