pre-sequel did not establish early on what jack's purpose on helios was (observing pandora, nothing more) and then make it clear how he was doing bunch of other shit that was not observing pandora, for people to blame the game's writing for supporting "jack was always the hero, it's everyone else's fault he turned that way".

maybe weird and idk if i'm gonna do a good job at explaining this, but out of the mainline games, bl1 feels like the only one that was interested in telling a long running story that delivers on its promises in due time.

even though it's been over ten years, i'm still a bit sad that we didn't get to blow up helios in bl2, as kinda promised at the end of assault on dragon keep. like, nothing against tales or the fight for sanctuary, but "let's blow up the space station" as the final, surprise dlc that leads to bl3 would have been a neat way to tie up the hyperion era of borderlands. especially since it would have have to take place after the present day scenes of tps, so it could have been a direct follow up of that with athena and aurelia around, too.
