I think it’s easy to enter into a relationship so armoured and ready to protect ourselves that we forget how beautiful it can be to be truly seen and loved. I know it’s hard to stand there and say “this is what I want; this is what I need” because it makes us so vulnerable. But please remember that having needs and expectations doesn’t make you difficult or needy. It’s simply an act of self-love and self-respect.

thinking about sheikh jarrah makes me feel so sick. the palestinians living there are refugees / descendants of refugees from the expulsion of their homeland by israeli militia during nakba (the destruction of the palestinian homeland in 1948). these people were already forced from their homeland. now they are being forced from the place where they fled to with nowhere to go. taking this neighbourhood and their livelihoods from them is nothing but pure unadulterated cruelty
