"Who exactly did you think I was, dear?" Narcissa cocked her head to the side ever so slightly, more intrigued than she was annoyed.
"Just a friend from school, you looked a bit like her from the back and she said she'd meet me here so I just assumed it was her," Emma replied, cheeks flushing slightly. She blamed the cold.Ā
Upon seeing her reaction, Daniel had seen all he needed to know, and all she was willing to give. It was only natural for one to be shaken up after such a horrific event. Heād seen many people walking around, haunted by what they saw. He could only be grateful that many were able to get away before it became truly dangerous. However, Danielās misery only continued; the Aurors were getting a lot of stick, which, added to the responsibility Daniel already felt, made him feel guilty, and angry. But he knew his place. He would have to bear it, and help rectify the problem calmly, as directed by the Minister. He was lost in his thoughts when it dawned on him that she had responded with a question of her own. āY-yes, I was. Just a few scrapes and bruises, thoughā¦ā
Emma merely nodded in acknowledgement that he had spoken, silently thinking he was lucky. She did not comment, however, preferring instead to move on from the topic entirely. She just wanted to forget it, move on with her life and prepare for the upcoming Quidditch trials -- Puddlemere was her dream, and she was going to make it. She would be the star she dreamed of being, and nothing was going to stand in her way. Plastering a polite smile back on her face, she turned her attention to the man opposite her. "So Mr...I'm sorry, I don't think I ever caught your name? I'm Emma."Ā

"Itās odd to think that the next time I leave these walls behind it shall be for good.."
"Leaving Hogwarts is one of the strangest sensations in the world in all honesty," Emma said with a friendly smile. "What are your plans for after Hogwarts?"
First Impressions || Emma + Andrew || Hogwarts
Not even a week after ending her mentorship with Athena, a new position had become avaliable. It wasn't another high profile pureblood family for Emma to forge connections with, but after recent experiences with those sorts of families, Emma wasn't entirely sure she wantedĀ to be associated with them. She wanted to be high in social standing -- and by that she meant well off, well known and the type of person who could throw a party that everyone would show up to--, make a good marriage that pleased her parents and play Quidditch. They were her driving ambitions. The McKinnon's may not have been in the socialite circles she originally wanted, but they were hardly an insignificant family so maybe this mentorship would benefit her more than she thought.
Emma waited patiently outside the Hogwarts library for Andrew to show up. It was too cold to meet outside, and it was a school day so they couldn't meet in Hogsmeade. Not that Emma minded the library at all, though she would have preferred the other locations. Looking up from her watch, she saw Andrew approaching and smiled at the boy. She hadn't really known him at all during her years at school -- he hadn't played Quidditch, nor was he fro a family her parents wanted to be in the good graces of -- but she was aware of him at least.Ā
"Hi Andrew," she said with a friendly smile. She didn't really know what she was doing, but she hoped Andrew would be a little easier than Athena was. "I'm Emma and I'm your mentor for as long as you need me. Do you have any questions or anything?"
The winter winds that blew through Diagon Alley were bitter, stinging Ritaās skin as she exited the Daily Prophet offices and made her way to the Leaky Cauldron now that the work day had finished. Sh was positive that parts of her skin were bright red by the time she stepped inside and made her way to the bar, taking up a seat near the fire as she brushed the last of the snow from her hair.Ā
"Butterbeer, please," she requested when the waitress came over, shooting her a smile before patting down her pockets to find the small pad sheād tucked away in her jeans. Her eyes remained locked on the paper when a figure loomed over her, the sound of their voice drawing a hum from her throat. "Go ahead, the waitress should be back in a minute or two."
Seeing Rita Skeeter had not, in all honesty, been on Emma's to do list for the day. She'd come to Diagon Alley to buy supplies, specificially for her broom, and then maybe get a drink. It was a bitterly cold day, and the young woman didn't want to be out in the cold for any longer than she had to be. So far, everything had gone to plan. Until she heard the voice of the other blonde behind her, presumably talking to someone else as Emma certainly wasn't trying to get her attention.
With trials coming up so very soon, Emma was a ball of excited, nervous energy and the last thing she needed was Rita trying to interview her again. Especially because Skeeter had a way of twisting words and dragging names through the mud. Emma didn't want anything to ruin her chances at getting into Puddlemere, so she quietly ordered her drink and hoped that the blonde who was seated next to her at the bar didn't notice her.
Ana had been flying aimlessly around the pitch for a good hour or so, having desperately needed to escape from reality for awhile after yet another day of hiding away in the library, studying for her OWLs. Talks with her parents over Christmas had lead to the apparent possibility that she would soon find herself betrothed to someone, and so all the brunette really wanted to do was forget about everything for a little while, hence why she had found herself on the quidditch pitch once more. The petite brunette was quite happy to just fly and fly until the skies grew too dark, though the feeling of someone watching her was soon causing Ana to turn her head, eyes scanning the ground as she looked for the intruder of her thoughts, her cheeks flushing bright pink at the unwanted attention.
Emma had just come from a meeting with Dumbledore about her mentoring services no longer being required, so she decided to visit the pitch for old times' sake. It was just so incredbily surreal to watch life go on without her. Emma wasn't so vain as to think Hogwarts had revolved around her or anything like that, it was just odd and a little terrifying to see how easily the leavers were forgotten. Emma hadn't expected to see anyone on the pitch as it was evening, but she quickly recognised the girl as Anastasia Greengrass -- Athena's twin and her fellow chaser for a while. Emma liked to think that the young girl's talent was down to her excellent tutelage, however she knew most of it was natural. It made her proud, though, to watch members of her team flourish over the years. It was one of the many joys of being captain. "Sorry," Emma said, smiling warmly as she caught Ana's attention. "I wasn't expecting to see anyone down here."

"Iām sorry, what was that?"
"Sorry," Emma said apologetically and a little bit embarrassed. "I thought you were someone else."
"Iāll see you in a few weeks, yes?" Adella looked up to find her eldest brother looking at her expectantly. She pressed her lips together before nodding slowly. Audric looked upon his sister in quiet acknowledgement before kissing her softly on the crown of her head.Ā "Au revoir, mon cher."Ā He murmured against her hair before patting her cheek and moving away only to disappear with a loud pop.
Adella flinched at the sound before wrapping her arms around herself and looking around. Her brother had dropped her off in Diagon Alley, just as he promised, but she had to get home on her own. Already, she was missing the sweet air of France⦠She gnawed at her bottom lip before turning around, only to ram shoulders with someone else. She let out a small yelp before furrowing her brows. āPardonnez moi.āĀ She murmured, keeping her eyes on the ground.Ā
Watching all the students rush around getting reading for the starting of school had been one of the strangest sensations Emma had ever experienced. For the past seven years, she had been one of those students and suddenly she wasn't. September was the first time it had really hit her that she was no longer a student, protected from the world by the strong, stone walls, and she'd felt somewhat disoriented ever since. Life was not as easy as she thought it would be, to say the least.
Lost in her own musings, Emma hadn't been watching where she was going when she ran into the other woman. "Are you okay?" Emma asked with genuine concern. Normally she snapped at the other person during situations like these, but Emma thought even just one harsh word might be enough to break the fragile looking woman and she just didn't have the heart for that.
Daniel allowed a small smile to turn up the corners of his lips as the girl backed down. āItās been a chaotic week for everyone, I believe. Were you at the Halloween Party?ā he asked. The idea that this battle between them and the Death Eaters was becoming more and more of a threat to the civilians angered him; as the days passed more and more people were becoming involved or being attacked. āOr, perhaps, something else is on your mind? In which case, I shouldnāt intrude.ā
The mentioning of the Halloween Party caused Emma to scowl, and her hand instinctively went to her neck where a ring of bruises had remained for a few days after the attack. She'd never felt so powerless in her life, and it was a feeling she never ever wanted to experience again. "Yeah, I was there," she responded curtly, and while she didn't verbally offer any more information an intuitive person would have gathered all they needed to know from her physical reaction. "Were you?"
"Puddlemereās a good team, Iām sure youāll make it easily. Youāre one of the best captains Slytherinās had in a long time. And obviously I expect free tickets to their matches." He said with a grin. "Yes, thank Merlin. I cannot wait to get out of that place with all their stupid rules. You know McGonagall tried to kick me off the Quidditch team?"
Emma practically glowed at the compliment, and the confidence she exuded sky rocketed. She, of course, didn't need people to tell her how incredibly talented she was - she knew that already - but she was hardly opposed to people reminding her. "Of course, the best seats in the house are all yours," she chuckled, before shaking her head in disbelief at his next words. "What, why? I haven't even been out of school a year and people are already trying to sabotage the best team Hogwart's has had in years. Honestly. I hope Lucinda sorted it out properly?"
"It is rather odd, yes. But it means I can get things done quickly without being pushed by children."
"That's a fair point, actually. It just feels weird not going back to school with them. Do you have many jobs to do?"

"Smart girl; youāve figured me out," Antonin offered, chuckling low in his throat as he pulled her tighter against his chest in her attempt to struggle away from him. Shame, that she was smaller than him; even the body he had chosen was large enough for it to have strength, and he was never more glad for that. "I prefer the phrase⦠homicidal Pureblood supremacist with a death wish, though. I do believe that was what the Prophet touted me as just last year. I like the ring of that one." Leaning his head down closer to her ear, his voice sounded now as little more than a whisper. "Are you frightened, miss Vanity? Do I terrify you? Or does it give you a rush as well? Almost like a free fall in air, innit?"
Disgust and deep loathing filled Emma as she was pulled tighter against the male's chest, unable to move. She was completely at his mercy, like one of the dolls she used to play with as a child. Emma wasn't always particulalry kind to her dolls. His voice so low in her ear made her skin crawl and all she wanted was to get away. Despite her desire to maintain her compsure, she couldn't help the slight tremor of her hands from fear. She was a pureblood, why was this happening to her? "The only thing I feel right now is my skin crawling from how disgusting your breath is," she spat, wishing she could at least elbow him in the stomach but she was pinned too tight.
The minute the young blondeās wand was placed at Alectoās feet, the redhead had summoned the object and placed it in her pocket, her eyes not once leaving that of the younger woman even once she was sat down and clearly in no way a risk to the female Carrow. For the first time in a long time, the redhead felt a sense of fear for the way her life had turned out, and so with Emmaās question came no more than a vehement shaking of her head, words spewed angrily at the blonde as Alecto tried to keep a hold over herself. āNo, you canāt." A shaking hand carded through her hair then, head slowly rolling back to rest against the door for a moment or two as the female Carrow tried to work out what the hell she was meant to do now. "I forgot. I forgot that this shit doesnāt just go away." The moment of honesty was not one Alecto particularly wanted to give, and yet she almost felt like she needed to, needed to give the girl whose house she had broken into at least a little something in return. What the hell was happening to her?
Emma stayed tense and alert despite the fact the redhead was no longer holding a wand to her throat. The situation was still far from under control, and Emma wasn't about to let her guard down in case Alecto was waiting for some moment to strike. Logically, Alecto wouldn't attack her - it seemed absurd to do something so provoking when the rpice on her head was high enough as it was. Then again, nothing about this situation was logical and so Emma wasn't taking her chances.
Ā To say the candidness of Alecto's response surpised Emma was an understatement. She'd expected the wand to be back at her throat or something equally sinister, not an actual answer to her question. Emma decided to her push her luck just a little bit further, hoping her question might prompt Alecto to hurry up and get the hell out of her apartment. Honestly, she had a repuation to maintain and the last thing she wanted was to be known as a Death Eater associate. People would think that when (yes, when, Emma was sure of that) Emma made the team it would be because she bullied her way in.Ā
"So what's next in your genius plan, hide in my apartment for the rest of the week until the heat dies down and then invade someone else's house?"Ā She paused and then frowned slightly. "How did you know who I was, anyway?" Emma liked to think her name was becoming somewhat bigger in the world of Quidditch as a potential professional canditiate, and she also hoped it was becoming more well known in pureblood circles.
