         “     master saleh,     ”       eirika smiles at the sage. her escorts left behind at a respectful distance for the villagers. after all, she is a visitor and it is the visitor’s job to respect the culture they enter upon.        “      it has been smooth. your concern is much appreciated.     ”

        to full relinquish her queenly duties to her brother for the duration of her voyage, she is nothing but grateful for ephraim’s effort. if she is to speak her truth, eirika has been trying to hone her magical abilities in honour of the late prince lyon of grado. being with saleh, somehow, managed to offer her forms of solace, even in foreign territories.

Pleased to see the harsh and tall land hadn’t troubled her too much, he led her into the village proper. It was a good thing she’d requested to come after monsoon season, where the rain and flooding lead way to perfectly neurtral weather and nature came to life.

“This is a spot often used for meditation, but we must go even higher up to reach it.” A haunt of his, too. For it was peaceful, he was unlikely to be bothered. “Though the path is short, I won’t mind if you feel you must rest your legs.”

It wasn’t typical for Tethys to be on the audience’s side, but she had to remind herself to get off the stage sometimes. Her own dances can’t be the only ones she watches.

And she’s glad, these Hoshidan dances were gorgeous. Mesmerizing in their own way of rigidity, not at all a bad thing. She notes the complicated, heavy clothing with curiosity. Even the rather average layers she wore to what she assumed was a culture more modest than Jehanna made her feel weighed down. But they moved as if they were weightless.

Saul took a moment to answer. Of course, he had been doing something before she entered, but his efforts in trying to hide it from her young and pure eyes made him almost forget it.

“I wasn’t, but you did took me by surprise.” He crossed his arms, raising an eyebrow. “I mean, I may not know you well, but I never pictured you as someone who would enter a tent like that…”

When he looked at her, he pictured a savage girl, but quiet to everyone else, perhaps because she was used to being silent while hunting… Certainly not someone who will seek out the city life when she grows up… or getting married. He found himself staring at her as he thought this throughly.

“Oh...I apologize, then.”

Frankly, it wasn’t such a thing for her to do. Sacae was big on manners. She had simply been so focused on her injury, the thought hadn’t occurred to her.

“I’ve grown used to injuries on the battlefield...But while I fight on horseback, a foot is too vital to lose use of. It would make hunting difficult as well...”

Saleh already looks and acts older than he is but, I imagine being raised by his grandmother he picked up some old people habits (tm).

“Princess Eirika,” Saleh greets, when she’s close enough to hear. “I hope your trip went smoothly?”

Truthfully, he was joyed by her asking to see their village in times of peace. How the villagers would react, he did not know. It was hardly the first time they had housed travelers, but he didn’t know how many knew of her status. It was only a minor worry, either way.
