from    garland    he    had    hung    himself    to    the    baubles    on    the    various    trees ;    the    manor    was    decorated    from    the    skirting    boards    to    the    ceilings .    there    had    been    no    corner    untouched .    the    butler ,    as    usual ,    had    done    things    to    an    excess ,    to    perfection.    this    particular    plant    was    something    he    had    not    hung    up .    mistletoe .    he    was    well    aware    of    it    and    the    various    traditions    associated    with    it .    although    he    had    not    expected    to    be    caught    under    it    with    ran-mao .    it    was    of    no    consequence .    he    had    no    particular    interest    in    the    act    but    who    was    he    to    refuse    tradition    ?
