thus far, 2015 has been a year of quality outings. not necessarily as many as i’d like, but the quality continues to grow. this photo has a lot of meaning to me in a few ways. i’m really proud of it. so here it is. 

this wasn’t the highlight of the day, actually... 

sunburn, dehydration, stinky boots, stinkier armpits, dusty trails, sore legs, floaty toys, whiskey hang overs, peak baggin… just call it the weekend.

three finger skunked us this weekend, but I managed to come away with shots that I enjoy regardless

truck camping in tierra del mar / pacific city with my beautiful girl. first trip together as an engaged couple!

Here's a shot from the Garcia mens' Christmas Eve hike up to the top of Munra Point

i shot this photo last week after a client meeting downtown. it’s hard going straight home when it’s early. so i went down to the pier and took some photos of Portland from across the river while it poured. i was drenched. but it was better than sitting on the couch watching tv. and i got this nice picture out of it! in the new year i plan on printing a few shots on canvas and selling them. this will absolutely be one of them. you know, i've seen so many shots of city skylines at night. i could've shot this for 30 seconds at f/11 with an ISO of 100, but then it would look like every other night time shot of a city. Instead this was handheld at like f/1.8 for 1/30th of a second at ISO 1250. I could've made the water look all misty, I could've over exposed the shot and turned up the saturation. I am capable of that. But having capabilities doesn't necessarily mean you need to prove it every time you shoot or edit a photograph. In fact, I have learned that these should be used sparingly. why should everything be made to look like insane escapades?!
