When Siebold asked him to perform at his restaurant and entertain the patrons, Calem didn’t need much convincing. They had worked together for quite some time as part of the Kalos League, after all, and he'd be happy to entertain someone who he considered a friend. Still, if he was going to play music in front of an entire crowd of customers, he had to make sure to take it very seriously and treat it as a proper display of his abilities rather than just a casual favor.
When the day arrived, Calem arrived at the restaurant bright and early to make sure the piano was properly tuned and all the speakers were working correctly. He looked the part of a proper classical musician with an elegant, sharply-tailored outfit and brought music sheets for a medley he had prepared just for that occasion, creating an atmosphere that was upbeat enough to keep the guests in a good mood without being too intense so as to distract from Siebold’s catering services. Everything was considered down to the finest detail, and yet as Calem’s hands expertly glided through the piano keys, he had a perfectly relaxed smile on his face as if it wasn’t any trouble at all.
He had done his due diligence, after all, so he had every right to be confident.
The work day neared its end and with that the performance came to a close. Calem made his way to a more secluded area of the restaurant to get some rest, and as Siebold approached he’d find the young man doing stretches, loudly cracking his back after spending so much time sitting in the same position. Now that he no longer had a bunch of people to impress, the change in attitude was palpable.
“Aw, thanks!” He said with a big smile as he accepted the glass of water that Siebold had offered. “I guess there was always so much to do at the league that I didn’t have many chances to talk about music, but I’m glad I could show off today.”
Calem became the new champion during the aftermath of the Team Flare crisis, a turbulent time that demanded constant focus to restore the damage caused by that organization and remove its influence in the region. He did manage to familiarize himself enough with the Elite 4 anyway, mostly because he’s very chatty, but his background as a musician wasn’t discussed that often.
“Well, I couldn’t actually see their faces so I’ll take your word for it!” He had taken his glasses off to complete the ensemble and only just put them back on, so that wasn’t actually an exaggeration. Fashion and inconvenience go hand in hand, it seems. “Jokes aside, I do really appreciate you telling me that since it can be hard to judge in the moment. I dunno about you, but when I’m playing music or battling I just try to focus on what's right in front of me, because if it's done right then people will like it, right?”
Perhaps the down side of performing in a high class restaurant like this is that patrons would not express their satisfaction of live music with an applause unlike other venues. Siebold had not known Calem was incognizant to his surroundings, despite the fact he saw the sharply-dressed other had not been sporting his glasses. Furthermore, Siebold did not at all expect for Calem to be so humble. He knew well of the types of talents who are infuriatingly lacked in modesty, so having someone voice anything on the contrary was reassuring. Though in turn, he felt Calem was quite the perfectionist.
"I understand where you're coming from, surely for what you do, to 'do a good job' requires an astounding amount of focus. Though what is more important is that you've actually enjoyed yourself." On that note, Calem was absolutely right; there was little chance up until now to have a conversation about...well, more than just music. Most of what Siebold has come to know is from other sources, and there is a lot to pick through thanks to Calem's celebrity status. The dent in the Kalos League created by the Team Flare incident had not entirely smoothed in the event of Calem's succession to role of Champion. It was such terrible timing, so those personal and insightful conversations were few and far between. However, standing here, he wouldn't really know where to start. But something of immediate note was the very visage of a man he would barely recognize from a distance. Siebold has come to terms with the man's fashion sense to the point he would no longer comment on it, but for the best part of the day he saw a man dressed in something perfectly refined for a michelin-star restaurant, and considering the former comment, instead of wearing contacts he may just be sacrificing his sight for sake of the look. It's a far cry from what he can be seen in at the League building like it was some casual day at home. Well, no, not even that - even at home, Siebold was sure he dresses better than that. "Are you used to taking up these sorts of requests?"
Something smells nice. Dried peach mixed with herbal tea leaves - the faint, barely traceable smell of food prep and fresh water that seems to follow Siebold around the league building like an eager cat.
“Siebold, thank you.”
She looks exhausted - hair loose and slightly tangled at her waist, makeup slightly smudged - cracks in her handcrafted mask she normally doesn't even let surface. So sue her, she's tired. Diantha is a very busy woman, and slowing down is one thing that does not come naturally to her.
“Urgh - I am… honestly, exhausted. I haven't been sleeping well as of late.” Diantha almost melts into the plastic chair when suggested to do so - and it seems that the smell of fresh, hot tea gives her cause to perk up a little. With something that is clearly practiced ease, she first pours Siebold a cup, one hand holding the teapot lid in place, elbows at her sides - and then serves herself.
But if there is one thing that comes naturally to Diantha - it is observation. Perfect replication of people's voices and mannerisms - all standard in her line of work. Changing herself to survive in each environment she puts herself into - each person she becomes. So she straightens up, fingertips carefully rubbing the sleep out of her eyes, gentle pressure on her upper eyelids. A sip of tea is taken, eyelids flicking closed for a few seconds of focus.
“Mmh, this is from Alarie, right? They always have very good loose-leaf tea, if you visit early. I used to work there, after the other place…” Her gaze flicks up, studying Siebold for a few seconds. “But how are you, Siebold? Busy? You seemed a little out of sorts earlier”
Witnessing the actress change as if getting into role was a spectacle to behold ( if not slightly humorous juxtaposition to the woman's slightly disorderly appearance ). It was something that looked to come as second nature. Though Siebold had the urge to state the obvious ' You need more sleep! ', this small gesture of tea and snack was better suited in his expression of concern without being so superficial. It was a fortunate decision, as he's learned he has been beat in sense of tastes, it seems. Incomparable was he to Diantha's stunning ability to identify the very shop he purchased the tea with a mere sip.
"Color me impressed. You're right, Alarie is quite popular for a reason."
He gives a polite smile as he took his seat across from Diantha, though he feels a pang of awkwardness realizing that as per usual, he was not capable of hiding his emotions well. Perhaps pitiful to a star actress, he mustered words in response to her own observation; "E-earlier? Ah, was it that obvious? Heheh..." The fact Diantha remembered despite how busy SHE had been.... "I was a bit out of it, having had an on-camera interview last evening. I'm still anxious about how it went. Sigh-" He looks down at the tea poured for him by the actress with a weak little laugh, and takes a small sip. Though he was not much a tea person, he could appreciate the quality of the blend and brew; it felt refreshing & helped him calm his nerves. "I come to really dislike being on camera. I truly could never understand how you can do it."

SIGH "I suppose it goes without saying : Make sure your children aren't harbouring a dangerous world-ending, wormhole-creating, or overall horror-inducing pokemon. With the world as it is today, anyone can turn up with pokemon of unbelievable powers we never even know existed."
"Was it that funny? I'm much more of a swimmer than a surfer...and also a slow learner, apparently. The instructor even told me I was one of the worst sharpedo surfers she had ever seen."
Melting pot of opportunity by the sea. Fishermen, boat racers, merchant ships - There truly is a rich amount of diversity from near and far that dock at the many, many ports and marinas in this Southern Kalosian city. Second largest to Lumiose, Laminacre serves not only as the gate into Lumiose for those from the Mediterranean Regions, but also a general hub for merchants. Unique shops & restaurants is enough to fill up an itinerary before even fitting in the hundreds of attractions left over from ancient times. As long...as you don't end up getting lost in a city that's so much more convoluted than the back alleys of Lumiose. But at least if you get lost, you'll be entertained by the colorful tagging and murals all over the exterior walls of the inner city. Where the money can be seen is along the coastline with the luxury hotels & high class restaurants. Your standard upscale boutiques and sought-after brand stores take up the best commercial spaces onlooking the marinas. The largest hotel also doubles as a Pokemon gym. It was only recently that further implementation of things such as public battlefields and sea recreational activities that includes pokemon have been considered. A crowded city like Laminacre on both land and sea never had the proper planning for these spaces , but with the popularity of cafe/restaurant battle menus in Lumiose, these are only a natural development to look into whereas the only places to pokemon battle safely in Laminacre would be the gym, private arenas, and the city outskirts.

It was a little self-indulgent, wasn't it? Inviting the prodigy musician and champion of the region to play at his restaurant. Maybe Siebold begged a little, with a dash of a Jacinthe-esque 'pestering until they comply'. He promised good compensation as just an act of courtesy, though he was sure Calem probably didn't need any monetary reward. It was a calm evening, but Siebold was positive the patrons were pleasantly surprised with such a celebrity special guest. He's kept an eye on the front of house more than usual tonight, gauging the entire atmosphere as well as being quite fond of the piano himself. Though, he truly strove to provide an experience worth the price for his customers. It's why something dramatic like a grand piano sits in such a prominent spot. Some days it was just like this, a sole pianist or a pair with a singer. Others, it was a challenger flaunting their key stone.
"I can't believe I've never actually heard you play before today. It really does look so effortless when you do it." Siebold would approach at the tail-end of service. Not empty handed - he offers a glass of water to the special guest. "You may not need me to tell you this, but everyone enjoyed your playing."

Those who take the spot of champion always seemed to be swamped with some sort of business, either pertaining to league duties or otherwise. He saw it in Diantha, and now, he recognized it in Serena. However, he never saw obligation in ensuring Diantha was taking care, though surely she was bound to have had sleepless nights and skipped meals. When it came to the new champion…things were a bit different. It was more than just Serena being a bit younger. Surely it all stemmed from that title, Hero of Kalos, and what had been done to achieve it. Siebold did not really hold reverence, nor does he mean to be overbearing in pity.
For Siebold, he had not exactly gotten over grudges and regrets that haunted for…ugh, he doesn't even remember off the top of his head when the Team Flare incident took place. It's a partially selfish sort of kindness to alleviate his - no - the entire Kalos League's mistakes. No, not even that…the misplaced collective conclusion of the people of Kalos. He was reminded of this weight every time he saw her.
But he doesn't see Serena too often, but when he does he is quick to assess her constitution with as much an inconspicuous glance. Does she look tired? Hungry? These things he can never seem to ascertain. But he never vocalizes it too distinctly. Instead, he always smiles politely at her, saying something he may have said before. "You've been running about a lot lately. Have you been keeping yourself hydrated?"
@heavenly-mireille "Oh, Diantha." Siebold did not even need to face her to know it was her. That familiar scent of that unique perfume as she passed, the very specific footsteps he's come to be so familiar with. It was a habit like second nature, noting the smallest details of a person he sees often enough to take notice. Being hospitable was natural for him, after all. Siebold assumed Diantha was taking a nap a few hours ago, and so, just as easily, was prompted to make something light for her to enjoy after she wakes up. Siebold is not much of a tea person himself, so making a brew for someone who seemed rather picky in her tastes was a hurdle he had not experienced in who knows how long. Even if he was familiar with brewing coffee as well as many coffee shops do in many styles, tea just felt like some sort of bewildering alchemy. Nevertheless, he's practiced for an unfathomable length of time, until days his fingers smelt of 30 different herbs and fruits. Today, he settled with the suggestion of the owner of a tea house he knew of - and picked a blend that tasted of the soft peaches of the southern reaches of the region. He needn't do much further great contemplation as he worked his magic with small tea sandwiches and a sable. Setting the small meal at the usual setting in a quiet corner of the league building.
"Drasna told me not to disturb you. I hope you've been doing alright." he says as he motions to the seat.

HEADCANON.
Siebold currently lives in the artists’ district of Lumiose City ( real world equivalent of Montmartre ), a quaint 17th century hôtel particulier that is well-lived in even after only a few years. He LOVES to entertain guests, and would usually invite acquaintances for lowkey parties . Some wine from his personal collection and food cooked by himself, it would be a socialite’s dream with the connections he manages to assemble. Whether it be a sample pokémon battle, him flexing his piano skills, or just some deep conversation ( in the case of when salons sought his place as a perfect venue) , Siebold is willing to do it all. Though it also is more than simply a party place for the rich, as Siebold has found an interest in hosting artists that hold classes, completely free of cost; and would even provide refreshments to the students. As someone who vehemently supports artists of all sorts, many paintings hanging on his walls are more contemporary, done by local artists ( it’s a way of promoting them to the rich guests as a point of conversation, as well. very sneaky ). The small private garden feature sculptures of such artists, as well. Speaking of which, the garden features a traditional symmetrical french look, with the addition of lavender and rosemary with the many rose varieties. It wouldn’t be a stretch to assume he’s entertained the whole Kalos League at this point ( yes, especially Valerie and Grant ). He’s also known to invite rival chefs and restaurant owners of well known restaurants. Rumor has it he is very good friends with owner Christophe of Restaurant de Perfection & Kazu of Restaurant Rolling Dreamer.
After the incident with Team Flare, this neighborhood's romantic reputation had since faded. Rising cost of rent & tax along with the diminishing of tourists, many of these artists and small cafes simply could not stay open. As property quite quickly become abandoned or on the market, the community had begun to break apart. The few still standing do their best to keep the Lumiose art community thriving ( ie; this is the malamar incident begun. if you know you know ). Murals and other graffiti sprayed onto abandoned buildings to hide the crumbling architecture, coffee shops resorting to the bottom of the barrel product to cut costs - there's little that could be done when the problem is willed by higher powers. To make the bad situation worse, the neighborhood would become nestled between wild zones and a battle zone, so even if for some odd reason people would be interested in staying in Lumiose, this area definitively wouldn't be the first choice.
