                 CHARLES  FLICKERS  in  the  struggling  light  of  the  campfire ,  emblematic of  his  lifelong  struggle  between  the  lighter  and  darker  parts  of  himself .  he  gravitates  toward  the  smallest  semblance  of  dying  heat  in  a  cold  world .  merilin  supposes  that  they  were  cut  from  the  same  cloth,  in  that  way.  many  of  their  scars  match,  because  they  have  been  burned  by  the  same  flame.

❛    they  had  a  lot  of  respect  for  the  bison,  didn’t  they?  more  than  words  can  communicate,  i’d  imagine .     ❜  she  is  reminded  of  her  own  mother’s  stories  of  india,  and   the  sacredness  of  cattle .  not  exactly  comparable ,  but  she  supposes  a  parallel  might  be  drawn  somewhere .
