1. There’s literally no good lore reason for them being genderlocked, if Miqo’te men are playable then there’s no reason for male Viera for being unavailable. And Ronso women appear and actively EXIST in FFX’s universe, and if they really wanna pull the “It isn’t FFX’s, it’s FFXIV’s universe” then it just makes it more ridiculous that Viera men aren’t playable, as they do exist in XII’s universe, so if they try to alter the Ronso lore they have no excuse to not change XII’s. They had the male viera concept already made, so add that to the pile.

2, The fact that Hrothgar are so obviously Big Muscle Male Power Fantasy with a Ronso skin to make it so it isn’t so obvious that they just rehashed Roegadyn men, which have the whole bullshit with their dimorphism, the Viera/Hrothgar are in the same fucking vein. Thin, model like scantily clad women (at least the roegadyn women have muscles and PANTS) and Huge Muscle Men.

It perpetuates the sexist idea of “Men are strong and burly and big and serious” while “women are just sexy and sultry and small”. The fact that they somehow don’t get that nobody wants genderlocking and that by removing it they please lot of people in their paying playerbase. 

3. And the “extra customization” for each race is just them trying to make it seem better than it is and it’s just admitting that they know it’s clearly not what we want, and in the sense of an MMO, a bad idea just shows how stupid this decision is.

Although I wasn’t there for 1.00 FFXIV, I am quite aware they did not have Female Roegadyns and Male Miqo’tes. But thanks to the efforts of the fans expressing their displeasure politely, the devs changed it.

Now, we should also let this beautiful thing happen again & make a change through expressing our displeasure to Yoshida politely. If we do this & make our honest voices heard cordially, he might actually make a change and lift the genderlock!!!
