i'm starting to figure this out

a year!? breena was slacking. but then again, more and more people were showing up every day. it was getting hard to keep up and greet everyone. especially with everything she had going on. so she just smiled wider. " oh! well. welcome to the outpost anyway! " she said. " where were you before you were here? " she asked casually, trying to gauge the situation.

breena nodded along, her eyes growing wide as he recounted his travels. she'd only been off planet less than a handful of times. she'd always wanted to travel more, but it was expensive and she loved her home. " wow, " she said as she took a bite out of her lunch. " you must've seen a lot of the galaxy traveling like that. do you have a favorite?"

breena clocked the mandalorian armor instantly. she was glad she wore her own. her helmet stayed back at the shop - she wasn't actually planning on staying out that long for lunch but it seemed like the force had other plans. she was good with names and faces, but couldn't recall if they had met yet. stars, there were so many mandalorians on batuu now. more than she'd ever seen in her whole life living there. " thanks, " she said as she took a seat. " i'm breena, by the way. i don't believe we've met yet. if no one's said it - welcome to batuu. been here long? " slow down, she thought to herself. she had a tendency to bombard the new arrivals. she couldn't help it ! she was just so excited to meet everyone.

Vexlin had decided to take a lunch out in public, he was still... finding what he wanted to do with himself, couldn't work with how he used to, still getting used to the whole "actually a Mandalorian thing", and hadn't even started looking into the whole force sensitive thing, he felt like he was just... floating aimlessly.

breena had her routine basically down to a science. she was always so busy, she had to keep herself on some sort of timeline or else she'd likely forget something along the way. which was a fool’s dream really - she forgot at least one thing daily. and that was on a good day. still, in true breena kelwic fashion, she kept her spirits high. it was hard to knock the sun out of her sky, so to speak. not impossible, as she came to find out, but very difficult nonetheless. on her lunch break, she found herself strolling into ronto’s roasters like usual. she didn’t even have to make it all the way up to the counter before the employee was getting her order together. “ just a wrap and soda today, bee? “ they asked, despite knowing the answer. “ you know it ! “ she said cheerily and passed over the credits. taking her tray, she headed towards her usual table. it was a busy day, and when she approached she realized someone was already sitting there, alone. she did a quick glance and didn't see any other open spots. so, she approached with a smile. “ hi! “ she said cheerily. “ i was wondering if i could join you ? “

❝ it didn’t ‘happen,’ you were born with it. everyone is, some are just more sensitive than others. and you should train it at the very least to make sure it’s controlled. beskar hides it and keeps it contained, but i doubt you’re wearing it constantly. if you don’t want to train it, you can shut it all off. just hard to turn it back on. but it’s all up to you. there are lots of force-sensitives on planet and control isn’t something that’s too difficult to achieve. just takes some time and effort, like any other learned skill, ❞ kota explained.

❝ yes, it’s phantom pain. it should wear off over time, but flare-ups can happen occasionally, so if you needed a prescription to the medicine i just gave you, i can help you out with that as well. there are lots of people on batuu that deal with phantom pain, so you’re not alone there either. ❞ kota knew it was strange and uncomfortable, he’s just glad he was able to formulate something to make it a little easier. he couldn’t exactly take away the problem entirely, but he did his best with what he could do.

kota nodded. ❝ i’m not really the best authority to explain it, as there are trillions of different ways to be a mandalorian, including your way, but essentially, it’s a religion, and a culture. they have a code, a long, expansive history, and your armor is likely made of the precious metal that they work to protect and use as protection. you’re not required to consider yourself a mandalorian, though i wouldn’t be surprised if people assume so based on the armor alone, or if arguments are made that it ought to be repatriated to those that do follow the religion. but that’s the most basic gist i can give, it would be wise to find those that actually follow the religion to give you more details. i wouldn’t want to misinform you. ❞ kota knew tons of mandalorians and lots of details about it, but he didn’t want to mix anything up or make mistakes.

kota chuckled and gestured for vexlin to sit down while kota gathered some pain medication he’d formulated specifically to fix those intense phantom pains. he figured it was more than high time that he’d come up with something like that to help the newly ‘afflicted,’ and to assist those currently on batuu that experienced an intense round of them every once in a while. people like cassian needed the help frequently, and of course kota would do anything for his friends. since phantom pains were mental, not physical, it was almost like any other pain medication, but it just targeted the part of the brain and the specific nerves causing the pain. kota was quite proud of it.

kota was just organizing when a new person entered and called out, so he left the examination room with a wave. ❝ yes indeed, how can i help you? ❞ he asked, strolling into the room. the man seemed to be in pain, but the instant kota reached out with the force, he knew it was phantom pains and not literal injury.

Vexlin felt like he’d just done six rounds with concrete. His body hurt, his head was screaming, and while he was 60% certain nothing was broken, he wasn’t fully certain. He reluctantly sat up, blinking a couple of times when he found himself sitting in a wooded area not surrounded by the wreckage of the ship he just crashed. “Shit,” he muttered. Did someone move him? Did he move? Was this an elaborate trap. There was a twig snap next to him and he bristled, grabbing his blaster and pointing it at the bush. “What the fuck?” He muttered.

leo let out an uneasy groan. “yeah.. that doesn’t make me feel better at all.” not that he was a doctor by any means but that definitely sounded not great. his comment made him smile though. “yeah, i can see that.”
