Audio Drama Sunday
Happy Sunday! I had the delight of attending an outdoor movie screening with my mutual yesterday, so I’m happy today : )
🪨 G.O.B.L.I.N.S — episode 8 - Romance, Railways, Explosive Decompression: firstly, that rap battle was so bad. Secondly, Elisar’s insult to the blue nudist and his steampunk fish was actually pretty iconic. Thirdly, Elizabeth saved the day again, with some provable character development and quick thinking! Also, the fact that she’s stopped having a crush on Elisar is kind of giving Chaptigone vibes.
🪕 The Reality Shaper — the Worst Ways to Die: The Top Ten Worst Ways to Die had me bopping along for like, two days. It’s just so catchy and terrifying! On the other hand, poor CB must spend a lot of time contemplating things that could kill them. Boris’s dad actually intimidated me this episode — which makes me feel validated for assuming he’d be evil.
🏛️ The Antique Shop — Episode 1 - The Meeting - Episode 4 - The Hounds: what a gently spooky series! I listened to most of this while making crane origami, and I really liked the mystical characters and magical stories. Big, evil dogs aren’t exactly soothing, but hearing the protagonist describe them is still a relaxing experience.
Hello everyone! It's Audio Drama Sunday! Isn't that just a treat.
👁️ This week marks the end of @worldgonewrongpod, and what a good show this has been. Honestly, when things are at their worst, nothing is more cathartic than working through the What The Actual Hell with a friend, and angels are such a good note to end on. I respect this show's commitment to ending well and I have loved listening to it. What a way to go out! If you need a show about figuring out *all this nonsense,* look no further.
💘 Aaaaaaa this episode of The Reality Shaper was so good!!!! First off, the song about dying was incredible, what a bop. Second of all...is this a burgeoning romance I see? Look, it doesn't matter if CB and Boris are in love romantically or the bosomest of buddies. All that matters is the contrast between the song Boris sang awkwardly under his breath about Nancy and the song he sang at the end of this episode. They Mean So Much To Each Other!!!!!
🎃 I have been delighted listening to Waiting for October, which starts off as this whimsical adventure and starts to become this close-up intimate examination of main characters Yvonne and Caro's relationship. I love this kind of stuff; Yvonne and Caro are adorable but not perfect, and in that imperfection lies the potential for growth, without sacrificing the whimsy and love and beauty of a world full of monsters that is not safe, but is definitely good. Also, Yvonne's right, I want to see a kaiju.
That's all for me this week! Hey: I love you! Bye!

Crazy that John Watson’s birthday falls on the one day a year single people are legally allowed to have sex, from a dramaturgical point of view. Have a great night, my guy.

Audio Drama Sunday - 9th August ✨
I’ve been doing a LOT of commuting this week. Though an audiobook put my audio drama on the back burner a wee bit, here’s what accompanied me on my journeys! 🚙🔊
💀 Our Wars Have Ended by @thesiltverses (5) What an INSANE episode. I’m consistently in awe of just how talented this entire team is! I feel like this show consistently twists the knife and then twists it again. Not only do we have the gut-punch of Dogged being brought back, the ‘Yes, farder’?? AWFUL! There’s something I need to chew over about Sore’s understandable aversion to the dead and his inability to escape them.
⛪️ Forgive Me (2.08 - 2.09) It feels like entirely the wrong time of year for these episodes, but they were still incredibly enjoyable! I sometimes feel the stirrings of my lightly-Christian upbringing listening to this and Father Ben’s homily did get me feeling fond of that little, shit-covered family in the barn!
📖 @storiesfromylelmore (205 - 206) Ohhh, poor Rion 🥺 I’m really glad that he has such a good friend in Keryth! The werewolf change is such an interesting vessel through which to explore so many things! The effects of puberty, racism, family (pack!) dynamics etc, etc! I want MORE werewolf audiodramas!!!
🌵 @desertskiespodcast (27) This show blends the silly and the serious so well! What do you MEAN there’s a part of the astral plane where people age?! Who is He?! And what does he want with Mac specifically? We got as many answers as new questions in this one!
🚚 Don’t Tell Alice (1,9) Robb! I’m a huge fan! I thought that the other woman in the Jeep was the oracle! It’s Keisha?! I think they *do* need to have a long, long conversation.
Have a good week everybody! 💙
Hello! I have just finished (less than three minutes ago) listening to episode 37 and wish to deliver this message conveying my feelings:
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I cannot wait to listen to the third season!
AAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!
Thank you so much for sharing!! I'm in the midst of writing the last five eps of v3sta and am very grateful for the encouragement! 💙

Uncle, how to get to the beautiful country? by Xiaoyu Wang
Audio Drama Sunday - 2nd August ✨
🦋 @remnantspod (54) Oh, damn, this episode got me even more than usual! How stunning: the poetry, the description of niqab, the scene in the hospital, Elio, Rachel. I listened to this on the way into work and was just emotionally floored by the time I got there. I really got a sense of healing from this remnant, a recognition of how people had been hurt by EP, but also how they found community and family in the wake of his life. So much to sit with and unpack here!
⚓️ @eelerschoice (12) Eeler’s finale! What a thoroughly enjoyable episode! I felt it did such a good job of tying up everyone’s arcs this season and I was especially thrilled for Nama! 🌬️ Again, I thought the action scenes were beautifully executed and I could really feel the heart of the show shining through in the resolution of the series!!
🧋 @hinaypod (89) Ohh, it’s so sad to spell out the misunderstanding around Mari’s connection to the Mambabarang and how it’s still affecting the people she left behind at home ☹️ It is nice that it’s (?she’s) still keeping the police out of her local area though! It must be so hard to hear loved ones fearing for her safety about something that she created! ‘Intercessors’ is such a fun word for Michael and Lori!
⛪️ Forgive Me (2.05 - 2.07) St Patricks continues to deliver a lighthearted giggle or two! I’ve never attended a Thanksgiving dinner before, but this ep didn’t really sell it to me 😂 I loved hearing from Clara again! She is a fave of mine!
📖 @storiesfromylelmore (204) This might be my favourite SFY episode so far! I adoreddddd Keryth’s PI bit (and what a talent to be able to voice someone pretending to voice someone else!) and I can’t fault the logic of being sure to finish first. It *is* always the Dame, I hope by sharing this unflattering part of their past, Elas is able to progress forwards in a less puce manner!
🌵 @desertskiespodcast (26) This Inter State episode had one of the best cold openings of the season. ‘The desire is growwwinnngg. The desire is subsiding. . . Now it is growing again’ - SO funny. The ep was a lovely blend of nostalgia and healing. But what an ending! I fear Evil Jennifer Coolidge has returned!!
🚚 Don’t Tell Alice (1,8) oooh I love the notion of Praxis as an ongoing network of community and support! These people have been indelibly changed and they’re still willing to help make things better! We finally meet the person behind the murders and… they’re human?! I think Keisha has her hands full here…
Have a good week! I especially can’t wait to spend a long commute with Our Wars Have Ended! 💀
