One of the very first things that drew me into David Lynch’s universe was its music. I adore this record (𝘑𝘶𝘭𝘦𝘦 𝘊𝘳𝘶𝘪𝘴𝘦 — 𝘍𝘭𝘰𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘰 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘕𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵). 🤍
It really is such a romantic, nostalgic— gem of a record.
It never fails to get me emotional and it makes me feel like I am inside a dream (or inside Twin Peaks of course). I put it on, close my eyes.. and I am at the roadhouse dancing to Julee Cruise’s hauntingly beautiful voice and her ethereal presence.
Every single song and project in which the three of them (Lynch, Julee Cruise and Badalamenti) collaborated was truly something else. More than magical.
This playlist feels very much like me at the moment. Ethereal and melancholic and a bit heartbroken.

Love this swan so much.
By Marlene Dumas
“Very startling—pixie-like, otherworldly—small, finely-built, dark hair—large eyes—her speech is overprecise—she shines and polishes each syllable with the very tip of her tongue—one feels that if one were to touch her, she would crumble into silver dust.”
— Susan Sontag, describing Anaïs Nin in As Consciousness is Harnessed to Flesh: Journals and Notebooks, 1964-1980
“I have created the isolation in which I find myself.”
— Anaïs Nin, from a diary entry featured in Mirages: The Unexpurgated Diary; 1939-1947
