RULES UNDER THE CUT!

"Arthur! I did it! I made the super burger! Try it!" DUDE, THIS BURGER IS THE SIZE OF RITSUKA'S HEAD, AND just the look of it intimidated the staff and even a few servants!

A look of intense concentration flashes onto his face. The saber stares down the burger offered to him, the smell of it already making him eager to take a bite of it. It looks straight out of a magazine ad! The size was monstrous in terms of modern food; how had the mage flipped it? With a bigger spatula? A comically large wok?

"Thank you very much, Master! I'll savor every bite!"

"Good. You're learning."

His last word has a sarcastic bite but it would bounce harmless off of her as he trudges back to her side. The mud beneath him is cumbersome, his armor sinking into the swamplands they had been separated briefly from; a conscious choice she could make now when she sees him getting impatient and trigger happy with Excalibur. He looks her over, bored gold sweeping over her form. Dirty from the mud but not bloody like his stained armor.

"Save your breath. It's not mine."

FINALLY. A grin splits across his face, feral glee mixed with bloodlust. Madness ignites like fire in his vein as his Master finally commands him to do what he's meant to do. Destroy. Ruin whatever she points her slender fingers at as one segment of the red seal on her hand fades and empowers him in return. He bleeds blue from that hidden scarred eye as Excalibur in his hand drips in the same ichor of the dragon's wrath.

"As you wish, Kaede."

Her name is recognition, a brand given from the Mad Dragon to her. Titles shatter under him as it always did. He steps forward, each step cracking the earth towards the prey she designated with those quiet, firm words. Slaughter is calling to him sweetly as Excalibur is consumed in blue flames that burn like a second sun.

"Watch closely then. On how you should treat every annoyance before you."

Red eyes peer at her and that damned sincerity that earns his ire. If he was his other self, he would have laughed and commanded her to know her place in front of a king. Trust is not something in his dictionary back then and now it barely hangs in the margin of his tomes. Capability is what he prefers now that he's no longer in his prime and had taken on the title of a Babylonia's human king. An annoyed 'tsk' slips from him.

"Why should I?"

The Caster's baritone words are a challenge to see if she'll hold her ground her not amid the King's narrowed eyes and perpetual frown on his face. The portals he's opened stay in place, a gold light shining over him and the Master in front of him. The tome shuts with an audible 'thud', axe following suit and slamming into the around while armored fingers rest on the top.

"Why should any enemy who dare look upon me with hostility survive?"

"Haha...I didn't mean to sound cheerful about it."

To others, the declaration of being in a world full of monstrous beings would be said with fear but instead he had said it like a relief. These things he could kill easily—experience of slaughtering beasts was his specialty so the King is hardly worried. In fact, the only a sliver of worry and that would be his Master seeing a different and less polished side of him in the aftermath. Kaede did value cleanliness and the polished armor he wore would be stained with all sorts of butchery if he truly let loose.

"Don't worry, Master. No one's better suited for this than me."

Her name almost slips off his tongue but he manages to be formal with his signature smile and a hand coming to brush a strand of hair from her face. Out of habit he always reassures her to quell whatever worry she always puts on herself; the dry quip of her words a familiarity like the blue sky above them. He's used to it. Desired it at times.

"Are you alright, Master?"

Sometimes she says things with such seriousness that he can't tell if it's her dry humor or if she means it completely. Normally, she would be willing to interact with other servants that appear in singularities and at least hear them out; but her expression is unreadable as he looks between her, the unsuspecting servants (a lancer and rider it seems), and the invisible Excalibur in his hands. He stares at her, eyes wide and confused as he tries to study every tiny detail to look for any sign of her usual humor.

Oh no. All he sees is her impassive expression that stares back at him. Is it a test? A strange way to prove his loyalty? Punishment? All of the above? He stabs Excalibur into the ground so both his hands can come to her shoulders and rest on it, green gaze almost panicked as he looks her over again. He tries to have his hands be a firm anchor on her shoulders—

"Kaede...did they do something to you?"

He turns stiffly away from the pot of noodles when her voice breaks the silence behind him. He's conflicted on whether to feel proud or embarrassed as she looks him directly in the eye between that book and him. Hearing her read about him when he's right there to is...It may not be his history from this world but it seems like Artoria also had similar battles like him.

The King knows she just teasing him with the way she reads his kill count out loud. He's also well aware of how he presents himself the exact opposite of the battles she seems to enjoy reading up on; he can't help but find it endearing trait of hers even as she teases him. But right now? With him dressed in an apron and with the smell of udon wafts through the air? Is this what they called gap moe?

"...Yes, those are correct, Master."

He moves towards her, clearing his throat while he gently but firmly closes the book in her hands. An inhale. A smile.
