the first thing i want to tell you is the fact that many bakugan names were changed during the english adaptation and especially in the second season. it may be a minor change, like here

or even worse, changed fully, like here

why does it matter? because we all know what vega is and what «helios» stands for, don’t we? :)

yes. helios is the sun. vega is the brightest star of the sky & arguably is the second by importance and oh! what an irony, spectra was mentioned so many times by gus as the light, especially in the japanese dub

if spectra is the light of sun about what i say so much (and gus is the moon then- well, you’ve seen in sanya’s post everything), then mylene, who is his rival is vega, isn’t it? the brightest north star, the next by importance from the sun, also – look at it’s color, it’s blue as mylene’s palette!

mylene is cold. even mylene’s palette is. her eyes & hair are light-blue, hued to turquoise. her skin is pale, her attitude is tough, but mostly emotionless. her japanese battler name is «the kiss of death», and death is usually portrayed as something dangerous, cold and pallid, as she is. she is the north star. and the north star doesn’t want to be the second one, so mylene & spectra are fighting between each other – the sun & vega both want to be the most important one.

but it’s not everything! i you, guys, remember that in the episode 47, when lync was about to run away with alternative data, he met mylene

actually, lync’s bakugan was also called after a star!

and yes, it’s in the same constellation with vega. even more, there’s a legend from chinese mythology about altair & vega:

huh, so here we have a boy who wants to meet a girl, but they’re fated to be separated. reminds a lot of exactly lync’s story, isn’t it? lync wanted to be with alice, he’ve got almost caught by mylene & he was murdered by hydron as a result (ouch). chinese mythology is really close to japanese & korean, by the way, you can notice it because of kitsunes/kumihos/huli jings :)

PRETTY VS. BITCHIN

Night and day difference! I’m practicing digital work again, trying to find a certain style. I really want a cell-shaded feel, but I also recognize I have zero patience for digital. That’s something I want to get over, and doing a more painterly style for now will help me get over that. Here, I still am being impatient because I haven’t even done anything beyond skintone and some…”shading”. Regardless, I’m seeing a more mature image in the first (present) versus the second (apparently it was done in June???2020, but it looks like its from last year).
