I first saw this and I thought y'all were tripping I'm not gonna lie, and I promised myself I wouldn't get attached. On the surface, it sounds insane. But I'm really starting to believe it for a lot of reasons.

One of my main reasons is that so many of the details that could be coincidences, they frame so that we take note of them. I don't think I'm explaining it very well, but for example-- forgetting Will's birthday could have been an accident... but they have Murray mention that it's okay to be late to a 'one year old's birthday party because they won't remember it' ON WILL'S BIRTHDAY. Also they brought it up themselves and said they'd change it, three years later they still haven't. And as we all know, that's also Henry's birthday. That doesn't seem like an accident. it's like they want us to realize that they didn't. Similarly, the color change of a set object in Holly's memory indicates to her that there's a door there, and it's actually plot relevant. Same volume that the WSQK prop turns from red to gray. You can't accidentally change a prop color like that. That's clearly intentional and it's one of the most glaring pieces of evidence to me that something is off. Basically every piece of evidence of something that they might have just "forgotten", there's a scene in the surrounding episodes that shows them paying attention to that same type of detail or highlights what's wrong about it. They have Dustin do his "forced conformity" speech while the epilogue is insanely conforming, like a jarring reminder for us of what the show is supposed to portray. Could they have forgotten Will's age? Maybe... but around the time Joyce says he was 11 years old when he went missing, Karen is scolding Ted for not knowing his own daughter's age. As if telling us, listen, we wouldn't just forget that. They hammer down on Hop's speech to El that life's been unfair to her and she deserves a future, a happy future with those who love her. So that when she seems to "die" we're left reeling because they know that's not a proper ending, they told us that. They have El say that Mike has always "seen" her for who she is... and of all the moments, they chose the moment she's literally dressed up as someone else, performing femininity. They can't be that stupid. There's too many examples of them showing that they're paying attention to something and then messing it up, like they're trying to get us to notice the inconsistencies. The biggest one is literally breaking the fourth wall to tell us that there are no coincidences, and responding to a Q and A of "are there coincidences or is the devil in the details" with PAY ATTENTION... and then giving these diabolical interview answers? The demos are "there somewhere"? They just didn't feel like dealing with Will's hive mind connection when Vecna was decapitated? They chose 12 children for "no reason"? It's like they're rage baiting us or something. They're begging us to be like this is ridiculous do you even pay attention to your own show... but they told us there's no coincidences.

Nobody can deny that the byler setup was intentional. The CGI heart eyes, the bathing-will-in-sunlight, the intimate filming of the "best thing I've ever done", the music, the number of parallels to canon romantic pairings, the eyewitness parallel, the butthole surfers, the one way sign, the matching costuming or paralleling couple's outfits in other shows, the details like "I didn't say it" "you didn't have to" and Will not even saying yes in their meeting because he didn't have to. But if that's true and they intentionally set up byler with no intention of following through they "queerbaited" in SO MUCH detail. It was literally every scene, the subtext was something you could write a goddamn book on. I was already lowkey in denial afterwards because I was like genuinely who would go to this much effort just to fuck us over. and I was ALSO like Jesus they aren't addressing anything they said they would, there's so many plot holes, how did they miss all these details it doesn't make SENSE they must be homophobic AND stupid. and then I realized... those CANT coexist. It wasn't surface level queerbait, it was engrained in both the narrative and structure and every detail of every scene. if they go to that level of detail to queerbait-- and there's way way too many examples for it to have been an accident-- then they pay attention to those details... in which case there's no way they'd miss set pieces changing colors and fourth wall breaks and character details.... they CANT be that stupid and that homophobic because if they used the details to queerbait then the other details are intentional too.

Interviews not making sense. I'm sorry but maybe they'd lie for queerbaiting purposes, but why lie so much about plot details? why hype this up as something deeply surprising with massive plot twists, with Shawn Levy even saying before the FINALE that the ending would be surprising. Literally NOTHING was surprising. They said Will would be a focal point, he really wasn't. They said Finn carried a lot of emotional weight... for ONE scene? They said with a smirk that it would be a "dark Christmas" and an "emotional New Year's", but it was anything but a dark Christmas? unless we're talking about Orthodox Christmas on January 7th, not December 25th. Duffers talking a lot about plot twists and how much they love M Night Shyamalan and the sixth sense, but not even attempting to do anything of that nature. They're not that stupid. I can't imagine they'd hype it up in that WAY if it didn't mean something. Finn saying his ending was "bigger than he could have ever imagined"? That he cried and drank champagne or something afterwards? Noah saying that he wanted to add the radio tower scene with Finn to close that "chapter" and Millie correcting him to "storyline"? Caleb talking about a "traitor" that we never see? Noah saying Vecna is misunderstood when we never really delved into his backstory and he wasn't shown to be misunderstood after all? Like idk maybe they'd lie about some things but it's just an excessive amount of talking about things that don't happen.

That's not including the extremely long list of evidence within the epilogue, but this is the context I'm looking at that evidence with. Something is clearly off, and I'm inclined to believe that 1) pairing a detail mattering with the same type of detail being changed or "forgotten" is implying that they know it's being changed or forgotten 2) such a deep and brutal queerbait would mean that they'd pay attention to their plot details more, and vice versa-- if they were so careless about plot details how were they so detailed in the queerbaiting? and 3) there's no reason to lie to such an extreme degree about the season and finale, especially the cast.

Like, wdym 18 months later Mike is still mourning his girlfriends death like it just happened yesterday. I completely understand still being sad that she died and all, but its been more than a year, man. And Hopper was only just now being able to talk some sense into him? After a year!?!?!?

Wdym El is still alive? And HAPPY non the less? She was completely stripped away from everything she loved and she's happy about it??

WDYM that Kali was alive long enough to cast a spell to save her? SHE DIED I WATCHED HER DIE.

also HOW did a group of untrained teens and a few adults manage to take down an interdimensional super monster spider thing with magic mind powers, unscathed, when a heavily trained and prepared military couldn't take down a few smaller monsters???

I also wish they could've done more with Will. Like sure, they had him come out and made him brave, but he's still a human being with much more to him then that.

and they just completely threw away Mike's character development.

im also still hurting that Byler isn't cannon. They gave so many hints towards it and just threw it away. We got ONE, one-on-one interaction between them. Just a short funny scene with a little but of heartfelt words shared between them and that's it!? AT LEAST A HUG BETWEEN THEM WOULD'VE BEEN NICE!

Vicky's disappearance in the finale. WHERE'D SHE GO? I feel so bad for her actor like, "So you're gonna have a decent role in season 5 but you won't be credited as a character in the end while everyone else gets a wrap up." Like HUH? they could've at least shown her with Robin at the squawk or something, or mentioned that she left Hawkins like ANYTHING would have been nice.

How did only one character die? the chances of that is so low like its not even funny. The show would've been way more cinematic if you killed off like, 6 characters at least. As much as I love Steve, Dustin, Nancy, and Murry, they would've have been great characters to kill off to create a more emotional ending.

How El and Kali should've died (imo): They use their power to team up and kill Vecna and the Mind Flayer, but in the process they kill themselves because they use up all of their energy. This would've been way more dramatic and believable then what actually happened.

HOW DID THEY CLIMB THOSE CLIFFS SO FAST? IT WOULD'VE BEEN NICE TO ESTABLISH SOMETHING THAT WOULD MAKE IT MORE BEIVABLE. MAYBE THE PLANET HAS LOW GRAVITY OR SOMTHING IDK BUT AHHHH.

Steve and Dustin could've had an epic death together (not a ship)

Nancy could've gone out by tossing a grenade at the mind flayer and going out with it.

If you had really really really wanted everyone to survive, I think it would've been cool to have the army guys that were in the upside down join the fight with Vecna. Idk I think that would've been cooler then them all dying.
