The “chronic depression” made him worried.
“Do you need a fishing buddy? I have nothing planned today brother”
-> The deity of darkness merely shrugs, floating around their brother in an almost lazy manner, their body in a semi-seated position, one leg over the other. "We're used to fishing alone. You never showed interest until now."
“Maybe I am interested? Plus you never asked me to go fishing with you.”
He crossed his arms, eyes narrowing under his mask. He felt a little left out of a lot of things. Which made sense to him…
Who would want to hang out with a deity that can go feral at any moment?
"We have." -> They stated plainly. "You were just always too busy with one thing or another to go with us, Venni dearest."
He has? Huh. Venomshank was starting to get really concerned over the fact Darkheart wasn’t being his usual playful self.
His emotions were getting stronger, causing Sisyphus to fly over on the coffee table and watch the two in worry.
“I’m not busy now! We can do whatever you want heart.”
"We suppose that would be nice, yes." -> Not like anyone else besides Venomshank and Illumina would be willing to tolerate them. "Crossroads. Better spot then our domain."
“I will get ready to head out then.”
He smiled under the mask, head tilting much like a bird’s. He wanted to make his brother feel better and he was hoping this would help.
-> The deity of darkness merely nodded and floated off to wait somewhere outside without another word. Damn, it was so fucking creepy to not see Darkheart smiling or being their usual self. -> Something was probably wrong, but like hell Darkheart was going to WILLINGLY admit such a thing.
Venomshank left the room only for a moment: all he needed was his hat and he would be off. He walked over to Darkheart while fixing his feathers. He’s not been fishing many times but why the hell not try again?
“Ready when you are!”
"We'll be off then..." -> The deity hissed softly under their breath before floating forward, simply expecting their older brother to follow after them. Darkheart's always been impatient, unwilling to wait. -> Crossroads, like always, was busy with life. Infernals going about their day, various businesses up and running and a couple of cars trotting along, one of those cars being Zuka's truck, seems like the former soldier was taking some infernals to a phight "So noisy... We like it here, hehe..."
“Hmm I must disagree, but whatever hooks your interest Dark.”
He followed behind, talons clicking against the concrete walkways and feathers fluffing up to warm him up from this weather.
"Party pooper." -> They giggled as they floated over to one of the bridges, the one that attached Crossroads to Thieves' Den. They floated towards the ledge of the bridge, finally settling themselves down. "Come sit, brother."
“Party pooper? I just like to stay secluded Dark. Not just for my sake but Sword’s.”
He sits down and sighs, crossing his arms. His eyes narrowed under his mask and his ears lowered.
“You will have to remind me how to do this again.”
"It's not that hard, Venni dearest..." -> They take off their hat and shove their arm inside of it, rummaging around before pulling out two fishing rods, holding one out to their brother. "Very simple..." -> They pull out a box of bait as well, setting it between the two of them before popping it open. "Take some bait, put it onto the hook and cast your line into the water... Once you feel a tug on the line, try to reel it in..."
He grabbed the rod and held it gently like he was somehow going to break it. He’s wasn’t sure he would do it correctly but he was going to try.
The crow wanted to spend time with his brother. So he was going to make that happen.
“Sounds too simple, but alright”
"You overcomplicated things, Venni dearest... Sometimes the simplest answers are the correct ones....! Khehehe... And besides, why would we lie to you...?" -> They stick the bait onto their hook before casting their line into the bright blue waters below, grinning widely. "Just relax... Sometimes having a simple mind is much more... Pleasant..."
Venom copies Dark and casting their line as well. This was supposed to be a calm activity but he still worried and stressed in his mind. After a while he spoke up.
“How have you been?”
"We could be better, yes, but we shall live like we always do.... Khehehe...." -> They grin, their sharp green teeth on full display as they hunch a little, watching the waters below. "So tense... Can you ever relax, Venni dear?"
“I’ve…been finding it difficult to relax…”
His feathers flatten a little causing him to shiver from the cold air. He sighed and reached up to unclasp his mask, finding it hard to see out of right now.
“I’ve been on edge after what happened to Sword”
-> The deity of darkness paused and turned their head slowly, hidden eyes scanning their brother's face. "What do you mean...?" -> Oh... There's a chance Darkheart doesn't know what's going on. No one ever really bothered to tell them things.
“I’ve been scared to reach out to you or our other siblings but Sword got hurt pretty bad on one of is adventures. Falling boulders caught his wing and he was trapped for a while….”
“I was with Zuka when this happened. He got me there. Thankfully the deer doctor was there or it may of been worse…”
-> Darkheart looked away for a moment, staring off into the distance before a low hiss escaped their throat, dragging one of their claws over the length of their rod. "That boy is... Resilient, isn't he? Just like his father..." -> They lean forward, forked tongue flickering outwards for a brief moment. "He's been on many of those little adventures of his... And yet this seems to be the first time he's been seriously injured... We do not see a reason to worry too much, Venni... The boy knows when he's at his limits, you taught him that..."
He placed his mask in his lap and looked down. He couldn’t help but still feel worried but he felt better talking to Darkheart.
“I’m still worried, but I feel better now….”
He tapped his mask with his talons and took a deep breath, looking out at the water.
"We feel as tho you worry too much sometimes, Venni dear.... And all of that worry isn't good for one's health... We understand why you worry for that boy, yes yes, we do..." "But he is a demigod after all... Something you didn't wish to tell him. Something we deities keep from him..."
“I want him to have a normal life. A safe one. Although I can’t do everything…even as a god…”
He really wished he had son to jog to lean against right now. All this stress being tensed up made him sore.

“Party pooper? I just like to stay secluded Dark. Not just for my sake but Sword’s.”
He sits down and sighs, crossing his arms. His eyes narrowed under his mask and his ears lowered.
“You will have to remind me how to do this again.”
"It's not that hard, Venni dearest..." -> They take off their hat and shove their arm inside of it, rummaging around before pulling out two fishing rods, holding one out to their brother. "Very simple..." -> They pull out a box of bait as well, setting it between the two of them before popping it open. "Take some bait, put it onto the hook and cast your line into the water... Once you feel a tug on the line, try to reel it in..."
He grabbed the rod and held it gently like he was somehow going to break it. He’s wasn’t sure he would do it correctly but he was going to try.
The crow wanted to spend time with his brother. So he was going to make that happen.
