most likely not. it might work out for a while, but not in the long run. i am not a person mentally stable enough for that. i am not always kind, and not always rational. that, coupled with my lack of empathy and inability to view people as… well, people, is not a good combo. plus, i believe that devotion requires one to be prepared for harm — to both be cradled and to both be teared apart. my husband is willing to do so for me, as i am for him. if you’re only here for my comfort and good parts, you’re not here for me. i’m not someone who seeks comfort, either, so i’d gain nothing from such relationship.

labels are something that confuses me as well. i agree. i’m aware that others will have a different perspective, though.

i agree with what you said. ‘devoted’ means not single, just as ‘taken’ and ‘married’ does. to me, i view someone who is simply just interested in another to be ‘not single’.
(because if you have your eyes set on someone, you will chase them until you, ultimately, do or don’t get what you desire.)
labels are a peculiar thing. the least people can do is respect what is (so blatantly) in front of them. if it is not obvious, people still need to respect that there are feelings involved.
i would also like to add that it is none of your business. no one asked what being ‘single’ or ‘taken’ means to you — it has nothing to do with us.
maybe it’s because i’m autistic, but i take labels strictly. you are not taken because you’re in love. you are not taken because you kiss. you are not taken because you have intercourse. you are only taken when you (both) agree to it. hell, you can be taken without love being involved; think political marriages & whatnot.
