There was an odd sight in base. A white haired girl in her mid teens and her entire torso covered in blood and several holes in her shirt, almost like she was shot.
*Shadow stands up and staresâŚ* âI need medics down here ASAP!â *He shouts into is radio before rushing to her.* âWhat the hell happened here?â
âShot by a twelve gauge, anyway. Do you have a map of the earth with the approximate location of this base? I need to find an old friend.â
She spoke nonchalantly, not necessarily impressed by her surroundings. There was something off about her, she certainly wasnât a normal civilian.
âYouâre not an ordinary human or are from around this dimension, are you? Also how did you get in here anyways?â
âIâm pretty sure Iâm from this dimension, whatever that means. And I got in by hiding under a vehicle. So, do you have that map? Or spare .45 ammo maybe?â
You catch a glimse through one of the shot holes. Sheâs already patched up the wounds and judging by the fact the rags didnât have blood on them, she probably sewed them shut too.
*Shadow steps back* âHow did you know I have a .45? A-And what I mean is this universe. Iâm pretty sure youâre from another universeâŚâ
âLucky guess mostly, besides itâs also what I have. If thatâs the case Iâm gonna have deck Charon when I see him next, how am I supposed to handle the Syndicate when you put me back in the wrong universe? Anyway, namesâ Kirell.â
âCall me Shadow. Itâs my codename. Anyways I got 3 questions. What pistol do you got, Glock 41 or a 1911? Whoâs Charon and whatâs the Syndicate?â
â1911, Glocks are too boxy and harder to conceal. Charon is a reaper, heâs the person who helps you across the River of Oblivion and sees you to the afterlife. Long story short, he gave us a game to play and if we completed our own individual quest we can be resurrected, I was apart of a group of seven and only two others were resurrected as well. The Syndicate is a group of assassins that I was once apart of, they decided I was a risk and sent my own mentor to kill me. Iâm not going to let them get away with that either.â
Kirell scowled, a sharp look of determination in her eyes for revenge.
âThe old Colt 45 has never failed me! Itâs nice to see someone else carry one. Charon sounds pretty interesting considering his position. As for the Syndicate, I need some more info on them and if they have activities across the Multiverse.â
âWhat info do you need? Maybe we could work something out.. Anywhere to sit down around here? Iâve had to be on my feet for longer than I care for.â
âUh, Thereâs a bench in the back of the hangar.â *They walk there and sit down*Â âI just need to know how theyâre structured and how powerful they are.â
âPretty standard for the most part. Head honcho at the top giving orders, the veterans who train the newbies, etcetera. They have different branches, one for every country, almost every act of terrorism or ârandom shootingâ or âmugging gone wrongâ is usually them picking off a target. Everyone who goes rogue or doesnât have the guts to do as their told are killed, just like I was. Iâve met one of the bosses, goes by Balaam, he has the reflexes of a cat and can feel you coming no matter how you try and attack. Heâs a good person to be allied with, which is why heâs my first target. We met again during our test to be resurrected, and although he makes me want to barf with some of the things he says, I need to make sure heâs on my side.â
âKeep them away from this timeline. I donât want them to know we exist. What do they know about the Multiverse?â
âNothing, at least that I know of anyway. Even if they knew Multiverse theory is true, I doubt they would do anything with that knowledge.â
âThatâŚmight cause some problems. If they arenât threatening the Multiverse in anyway then there isnât much we can do. UnlessâŚwhatâs the state of monsterkind in your world?â
âMonsterkind? What is that, some sort of band or something? How does that relate to the conversation?â
âYou donât have monsters in your world? Where the hell are you from?â
âEarth? Where the hell am I?!â
âNo What universe are you from? I donât think youâre even from this cluster!â
âUhh. The Milky Way? I donât even know how to answer that question..â
âLet me explain. The Multiverse is like a cluster of stars. Each dimension has its difference. Weâre in whatâs known as the Undertale cluster. You look like you came from some place completely different.â
âYeah.. Iâve never even heard of that. Canât you like, track down my origin with my DNA or something? I do want to get back ya know, places to be, people to kill.â
âMy scientist buddies can help you with that but considering how far your native timeline is, getting back wonât be easyâŚâ
Kirell sighed, out of both exhaustion and anger.
â⌠You have a range? I need to blow off some steam.â
*he gives her a tablet* âThereâs a map that will show you where it is.â *3 medics run in*
Med01: âHow is she still standing?!?â
S: âI donât know, but you should probably patch her up.â
Med01: âRight away!â
Shadow: *picks up his radio* âBlack Mesa West, find out when the wormhole opened up and see if you can trace itâs source.â
BMW: â10-4â
Shadow: âOne of my scientist friends will meet with you to discuss how weâll send you back.â
She took the tablet and sat it on her lap. Still looking at the tablet, she took off her shirt revealing the bloodied grey sports bra she was wearing and her patchjob on the several wounds the shotgun gave her.
âHuh, this place is more futuristic than mine. You guys can go head and check out my work, I think I did pretty well myself..â
*The medics inspect the wounds. âNot badâŚâ *The medics use healing magic on the wounds.* âThat should prevent it from becoming infected. On the tablet there should be the locations for the operating rooms. You need to get patched up better though.â *Shadow replied* âI canât argue with that.â
Kirell whistled softly as the medics used their magic.
âYeah, Iâm definitely not supposed to be here, that was like magic or something.â
Kirell looked at the tablet for a couple minutes, memorizing the way to the closest operating room, then the way to the closest range from there before handing the tablet back to Shadow.
âYou think you can get there on your own?â
Kirell stood up, throwing her shirt over her shoulder.
âProbably. But I wouldnât mind an escort, just in case.â
âIâd like to show you around! Thereâs a lot to see here.â
âThat works out well then. So, according to doctorâs orders. First stop, operating room?â
âYup! While you wait Iâll ask my scientist friends to figure out where you came from.â
âGreat, letâs walk and talk. I wouldnât mind some morphine right about now, my chest still hurts like a bitch.â
âI bet!â *They walk off* âHow do you think you ended up so far away?â
She shrugged.
âCharon probably just made a mistake. Or he did it to spite me, I wouldnât be surprised.â
âI never would have guessed he had the power to sling someone off that that far. Why would he want to spite you?â
Kirell chuckled slightly.
âWell, Iâm not necessarily a good person. I was, am a hitwoman after all. Besides, heâs practically a god, he can probably do a lot more than he leads on.â
âThat makes senseâŚâ *He texts someone* âWhat are you gonna do when you get back?â
âFirst, Iâm gonna meet that one guy I mentioned earlier, named Balaam and try to get him on my side. Next Iâm going to devise a plan to eradicate the Syndicate. They made me this way and theyâre going to pay for it.â
âIâll try to help you as much as I can. Is there anything you want me to do?â *They arrive, he opens the door and steps inside.*
*She looked around, instinctively analyzing the room for threats and anything that could be used as a weapon. She shook her head, deciding to trust Shadow and his associates and let her guard down temporarily.*
âWell. I donât like the idea of fighting the Syndicate alone, so if I could borrow some extra firepower or an experienced trigger finger, itâd be a big help.â
âIâll see what I can do. For now lay down on that bed over there.â *He points*
Kirell did as he asked, slowly laying down on the bed with a deep sigh.
*several doctors enter the room. One of them says.* âIâll need to take a close look at those wounds.â
âGo ahead. Just give me some painkillers before you start prodding me, I get irritable when Iâm put through too much pain. Actually, just in case..â
Kirell sits up and hands Shadow her M1911 and hunting knife.
âItâs probably best if you hold onto these for a while.â
*he inspects the knife and the pistol* âWhoâs the manufacturer?â *One of the doctors injects a mild anesthesia into her right arm.* âYouâll still be awake, you just wonât feel anything.â *He answers.*
The pistol was a stock .45 M1911, it was well maintained and didnât have even a speck of rust on it. The knife is definitely custom, not made out of the standard metal, itâs lighter, but still feels sturdy and reliable. The dark oak handle also seemed custom, but it felt different, like it could be removed.
âColt. I made the knife myself actually.â
Kirell flinched slightly as the anesthesia is injected, slowly sinking down from her usual, soldier-like posture and laying back down.
âHeh! Nice! Youâll be up before you know it!â
Kirell mumbles something before closing her eyes and letting the doctors do their job.
