for those of you who are stuck in a bit of a “struggs to func” type of loop I got some advice:
If you’re finding yourself endlessly scrolling through social media to numb yourself and time is slipping away: go make yourself a warming cup of tea or a nice cool glass of lemonade and try to focus on the sensation of drinking it, no thoughts about the past or future just the present (the taste, the temperature etc).
Put on some music to get you pumped + ready to tackle the tasks whether it’s cooking, tidying your room, whatever. I find old bops from the 80s work best personally
Change your clothes, it’s difficult to feel motivated to sort out your life when your in your pajamas that haven’t been washed for a week. Idk why but if I need motivation I tie my hair up and put on some heels. I look ridiculous wearing heels and sweatpants but suddenly the tasks I’ve got to do seem more achievable somehow. You just gotta find whatever it is that helps you feel more like you.
Take a warm hot bath. Go dig that bath bomb out of the drawer, bust out that fancy conditioner, light some candles, shave your legs if you do that. Showers work just fine too if you don’t have a bath.
Stay hydrated. Yeah I know you’re rolling your eyes but the amount of times I’ve been like “am I about to cry or am I just dehydrated?” and it turns out I just needed a cool glass of H2O
Have you eaten in the last few hours? if the answer is no, go make yourself a sandwich right away. Maybe have an apple too.
You will get through this I promise you, the first step is taking care of yourself and then it’s one foot in front of the other baby!
