“ we are not? ” he questioned. that only made him more curious to check it out “ why are we not? ” garrett frowned, tilted his head as he studied her facial expression. he had not met wolves before, no surprise they excited in the world. there were vampires who had different unique abilities, why not wolves? “ i do not mind fighting. it’s a free country, isn’t it? we should be able to go where we want and no one should stop us ” he shrugged, his brows raised.

❝ i can understand that, ❞ though what was considered a long time to this girl compared to kate was vastly different. ❝ these forests do have a way of taking you mind off of things, i’ve come to realize. ❞ she said, taking a careful, considering look at the endless lines of towering trees around them before turning back to flash a softer, more gentle smile toward the human for good measure. ❝ but i suppose you’d know that better than anyone, you being a local and all, huh? ❞ 

              “  ah, well that’s too bad. if you need any recommendations maybe i could offer you some. of course it depends on your interests, but i do know a lot of interesting little places .”  there wasn’t much else to do in forks but read and explore. both things bella did on a daily basis. “ you’ll have to tell me of these better things. i’ve yet to discover them. ”

“you know, there’s only so much you can do when people refuse help. after all that, I’d leave them behind. parents or not, they’re clearly not in their right minds.“ lauren scoffed, eyes rolling lightly at her own words. if it were her parents, she’d be counting down the days until she was able to stick them in a nursing home.

          “        i’m     fine.        "          while     the     response     was     quick,     it     wasn’t     technically     a     lie.     she     was     alive     and     that’s     what     mattered.     the     person     she’d     momentarily     hijacked     …     well,     there     was     a     possibility     they     weren’t     as     lucky     as     she’d     been.     it     was     involuntary     this     time     and     it     scared     her,     there     was     no     denying     that.     a     quick     glance     is     shot     leila’s     way,     but     shoulders     rise     and     fall     with     a     quiet     sigh     as     the     blonde     tries     to     muster     up     any     kind     of     courage     to     get     her     story     straight.          "        bad     night     of     sleep,     i     think.     i     just     need     a     few     more     hours,     i     would     assume.        ”

“I did hear that one but it’s a dumb one. they’d have a small list of matchmaking clients. but hey, if getting adopted gets you a date, sign me up.” lizzie gave the other a cheeky grin. “no but seriously, I heard you guys were drug dealers. oh and the best one. that you were part of a cult of some sort that takes in orphaned kids for weird voodoo weddings.”

                        “  sky. ” he repeated, if only to convince himself his eyes were not deceiving him. almost instantly, he wrapped his strong arms around her.  much tighter than he intended, almost afraid to let go. as if when he eventually did, she would vanish into nothingness and his mind would have pulled a trick on him. it was too good to be true.  “   why am i here ? did you really think your big brother would not go to the ends of the earth to find you ? it may have taken me some time, but here i am.” he finally let go of her. his eyes following her every move. he was still trying to convince himself of the current reality. “ i need to know how you are. what happened to you ? are you safe ? i’ve been watching the family you’re with and they seem to be kind people. as rare as that is.”

“oh, I see. I have two older brothers. I love them, but I don’t think they’d enjoy flowers either.” olivia was the baby of the family and her brothers were extremely protective of her. no matter how many times she claimed to not need their help, she did appreciate their efforts and care. “you are from italy? I can’t think of a more beautiful place. I’ve always wanted to go.”

willow  was  surprised  the  other  was  so  .  .  .  open.  how  benjamin  spoke  it  was  more  of  hush  hush  than  let’s  scream  it  to  the  world!  plus  the  volturi  where  here,  like  vampire  royalty.  “are  you  speaking  about  the  small  town  vibes  or  the  supernatural?”

willow  slept  at  odd  times.  her  parents  had  a  fortune  and  hadn’t  thought  of  cutting  her  off  .  .  .  yet.  but,  with  her  paintings  willow  did  do  good  for  herself,  she  only  spent  about  10%  of  the  allowance  on  her  credit  card.  

she  had  decided  to  pick  up  her  small  on  the  go  kit  to  paint  the  mood  of  the  moon.  she  sighed,  happily  once  her  paints  were  out  and  her  small  canvas  on  her  knee.  she  turned,  hearing  something.  “uh  -  shouldn’t  i  be  asking  you  the  same  thing?”

                    she    had    no    real    way    of    describing    this    .    .    .    whatever    this    was    that    was    happening    .    it    was    just    ,    right    .    natural    .    as    if    it    were    meant    to    be    like    this    .    the    two    of    them    lying    beneath    the    stars    ,    her    looking    at    the    stranger    as    if    she’d    never    had    sight    .    jane    didn’t    even    know    their    name    but    that    didn’t    make    this    connection    feel    any    less    real    .    was    this    all    in    her    mind    ?    did    the    other    feel    it    too    ?    “    fair    point    –    ”    she    says    ,    an    uncharacteristically    bright    smile    on    her    face    as    the    words    left    the    other’s    mouth    .    “    i    would    say    you’re    wrong    but    in    all    my    years    i’ve    learned    that    people    often    forget    to    include    their    reflections    when    they    say    such    things    ,    ”    fingertips    run    along    the    blades    of    grass    beneath    her    grasp    .    “    i’ve    seen    works    of    art    that    could    never    even    dream    of    comparing    to    you    -    ”    she    turns    her    body    ,    moving    it    to    face    the    golden    eyed    angel    .    “    i’m    jane    .    ”

ℭarlise   stopped,   surprised   someone   called   out   to   him.   it   took   him   a   moment   to   go   from   doctor   mode   back   to   “human”   where   people   called   him   by   his   given   name.   he   looked   towards   the   man,   the   red   eyes   not   surprising   him.   it   seemed   as   though   almost   everyone   who   was   a   supernatural   was   here   in   forks.   carlise   still   wasn’t   sure   how   he   felt   about   it   all.   on   one   hand   he   was   happy   to   see   so   many   old   friends   but   on   the   other   .   .   .   it   was   unnerving   to   have   everyone   here.   the   quileutes   phasing   and   it   was   all   because   so   many   vampires   were   here.   carlise   felt   a   pang   of   remorse   in   his   chest.   they   were   taking   away   their   childhood   and   teenhood.   

he   nodded,   offering   out   his   hand.   “yes,   i   am,”   he   told   the   other,   giving   them   a   warm   smile.   “you   muse   be   .   .   .”   he   trailed   off,   never   seeing   this   vampire   before.

                    kismet    .    she    believed    that    was    the    word    to    describe    this    very    moment    .    something    like    fate    or    destiny    –    suddenly    maybe    forks    wasn’t    such    an    awful    place    after    all    .    small    smile    grows    ,    an    expression    that    was    different    than    her    usual    smiles    which    had    been    reserved    for    causing    pain    to    others    .    this    smile    was    like    ones    she    had    as    a    human    ,    in    those    rare    moments    where    she    didn’t    hate    her    life    .    “    it’s    the    animal    blood    ,    it    makes    the    scent    more    –    wild    ,    if    that    makes    sense    ,    ”    she    explains    ,    another    small    laugh    leaving    her    .    “    it’s    an    easy    scent    to    remember    when    most    of    our    kind    have    eyes    like    mine    ,    ”    jane    feels    like    a    teenager    again    ,    the    teenage    witch    she’d    been    that    was    wrapped    around    a    minister’s    daughter’s    finger    .    only    this    time    she    felt    there    wasn’t    doom    on    the    horizon    .    at    least    for    the    moment    .    “    do    you    mean    that    or    are    you    just    saying    that    because    you’ve    ‘    only    been    around    golden    eyes    ’    ?    ”    she    jests    .
