What if vampire skin looked like opals in sunlight instead of diamonds? The colors would shift and change with movement and each individual would be conpletly unique. There are so many different colors in opals, from pastels to highly saturated ones. Also the warm colors would look a lot like flames in sunlight
Having so much color just below the surface of the skin would also provide some contrast against the cold and motionless nature of vampires. The colors would still be there, though almost unnoticeable, in lower lighting. This would still be unnerving to humans even if their eyes couldn’t quite process what was wrong with the vampires

honestly i hate how short the twilight saga was. i wish we had more. bella and edward dating for years, throughout high school and college before the marriage and eventual her becoming a vampire part. there was so much potential with where the series could have gone but it all got wrapped up so quickly over the course of like, a year and a half of her life. i wanted to see bella growing up, being with her dad and finally getting to build a relationship with him, and through mending the father-daughter bond being able to make more educated choices in her relationship life (bc let’s be real that def played into her dependency on edward to a degree) and having a healthier relationship with edward and the concept of mortality/aging next to him. there’s just so much this story lacks that i wish it had someone please get the rights to rewrite this goddamn saga and do it justice

so i’m rewatching the series now that they’re on netflix, and i finally figured out what my beef is with every movie following new moon is (besides the fact that they just went down in quality thanks to the directors), and it’s that they lack that “indie” feel - idk if this is the phrase i wanna use but i can’t think of another lol - that the first two have. despite the lack of the classic blue-green filter, new moon still had that warm, grungey feel to it like twilight did, but every movie from eclipse on feels too… crisp? clean? where’s the muted tones and warmth? it almost feels like i’m watching spin off films, not licensed twilight films 💀
Funny, my problem with Twilight and New Moon is that they feel too indie. I liked Eclipse and both Breaking Dawns better. To each their own. Not the hair. Everyone's hair gets worse. They really did Esme dirty.
personally i feel like the indie vibe works with the storyline and the northwest setting, but yes to each their own. but i agree i’ll never forgive them for what they did to esme’s hair 💀 that kind of stark design contrast i think is what killed the last few movies for me

do you ever think about how smeyer could’ve provided incredible representation of native americans, brought attention to the racism they experience, and donated tons of money to reservations/fundraisers that aid native people
but instead she...bastardized their legends...has not spoken up for natives...reinforced MANY dangerous stereotypes...made them all Physically Older and Sexy whilst they are literal teenagers...normalized calling the native characters “dogs” and “unstable”...all around tried to make her native characters the unspoken villains after her white main characters caused the problem in the first place...and made millions of dollars off of it, not a cent of it going to the culture she stole from?
