The Fall

In the exhibition the Fall, Vanna Bowles has explored a new form of expression. Her usually carefully executed, detailed sculptures and drawings of birds, insects, body parts and nature, here meet an expressive and abstract expression.

In the process of working out this new form of expression, the hands and the body have been allowed to rule, and she has allowed a physical and experiential knowledge to manifest itself through doing rather than thinking.

The exhibition can be seen as a meeting point between a form of subconscious thinking, where fragments and parts of larger wholes can be put together to form new images and stories, and a bodily examination of experienced emotions, where the materials, that can be likened to entrails, bodies parts, plants and other living things, are allowed to speak for themselves.

En Uggla i Handen (An Owl in the Hand) 2022

Public art work for Kornellen care home in Örebro. The work consists of three sculptures in brick stones, ceramic tiles and bronze. It is situated in a little park in connection to the care home, but also open for the public.

Orädd resa / Fearless journey 2021

Fearless journey is a public work at Lindholmen in Gothenburg harbour.

The work consists of three pieces; a brick stone arch with handmade ceramic tiles, a bronze figure in human size and ruin-like bit of a brick wall with a bronze bust inside.

By spring 2022 two of the three pieces are installed. The third one will be placed in 2023-24

Sketch for the public art work “Orädd Resa” (Fearless Journey), to be realized 2018-20 on the harbor of Lindholmen in Gothenburg (SE).

The work consists of three sculptural pieces; A three meter archway in bricks, covered on the inside with drawings on ceramic tiles. The second work is bronze sculpture of a person covered with ivy, and the third is a fragment of a brick wall with ceramic tiles and an bronze sculptural depicting a child with a sparrow head.
