the    call    was    only    a    few    seconds    long,    but    to    harvey    it    felt    as    though    time    had    slowed    to    a    complete    stop.     the    news    of    sloane's    crash    hit    him    like    pounds    of    brick,    yet    there    was    no    time    to    sit    and    let    each    word    sink    in.    trusted    converse    were    shuffled    on    within    moments,    laces    untied    and    heels    barely    fitting    into    the    sole.    rapidly    he    began    dialing    the    only    other    person    he    could    think    of    as    he    hurriedly    climbed    into    the    seat    of    his    supra    :    nory    maddox.    he    doesn't    remember    exactly    what    he    said    to    her    through    the    speaker    of    the    cracked    blackberry.     surely    it    was    something    along    the    lines    of    ‘sloane’s    in    the    hospital',    ‘crash’,    and    ‘i    don’t    know'. finding    himself    pacing    in    the    hospital's    lobby    with    barely    any    information,    his    heartbeat    somehow    both    eases    and    rises    all    at    once    as    he    spots    heaven    approaching    the    automated    doors.     rushing    over    and    ambushing    her    with    a    tight    hug,    the    next    words    out    his    mouth    are    jumbled—     clearly    frantic    and    relieved    to    see    a    familiar    face. ❛    fuck,    thank    god    you're    here.    i    called    as    soon    they    hung    up.    ❜

❝    hand    to    god,    i'm    gonna    kill    every    fuckin'    person    that    touched    that    car    before    giving    it    to    sloane.    ❞    a    threat    spoken    into    the    fabric    of    his    shirt,    just    before    she    lets    go    of    him. anxious    energy    keeps    her    pacing    around    the    waiting    area,    voicing    curses    to    everyone    she    could    think    of.    it    finally    catches    up    to    her    now,    falling    into    a    cheap    chair    with    a    loud    sigh.    ❝    grimy    ass    fingers,    can't    even    tell    what    a    faulty    hood    latch    looks    like.    jesus    christ.    our    fuckin'    models    could    spot    that,    i    bet.    ❞

with   an   event   like   this   ,   it   was   truly   a   given   that   at   some   point   they'd   run   into   each   other   .   yet   ,   all   that   crossed   jisung's   mind   when   it   finally   did   happen   was   panic   .   even   through   the   muddy   haze   of   whatever   the   count   was   of  god   awful   mojito's   ,   he   registered   the   flight   instinct   kicking   in   .   so   much   actually   ,   that   his   body   twitched   as   their   words   settled   in   .   something   small   ,   still   so   involuntary   .   even   as   lips   curled   into   the   faintest   hint   of   a   grin   -   nothing   worth   noticing   as   it   went   away   just   as   quickly   as   it   came   .   “   oh   .   .   .   ”   with   that   ,   jisung   turned   around   .   his   coat   was   drooping   from   both   his   shoulders   ,   so   casually   that   it   seemed   to   belong   there   .   his   elbows   rested   upon   the   edge   of   the   counter   behind   and   calculating   eyes   rested   solely   on   the   other   .   clear   evidence   of   exactly   how   enjoyable   his   night   has   been   thus   far   painted   across   his   face   -   lower   lip   bitten   red   (   a   nervous   habit   he'd   never   fully   grown   out   of   )   and   the   softest   flush   dusting   his   cheeks   .   “   so , y'do remember my name , then  "   flippant   enough   to   push   away   anything   lurking   beneath   . 

                             confrontation    has    their    brows    raising,    but    it's    well    deserved,    so    he    tries    not    to    take    it    to    heart.    there's    a    bite    to    the    remark,    a    reminder    of    the    hurt    he    must    have    caused.    trying    to    keep    his    tone    neutral,    he    replies,    ❝    i    remember    a    lot.    ❞    with    jisung's    attention    directed    their    way,    hyunsik    once    again    cannot    help    but    look.    to    study    what    has    changed    &    even    more,    what    has    remained    the    same,    untouched    by    years    in    between.    a    red    flush    tints    the    highest    points    of    his    face–    although    attributed    to    the    empty    glass,    it's    another    burning    reminder    of    what    feels    like    a    previous    life.    ❝    do    you    remember    mine    ?    ❞    a    selfish    request,    maybe.

                             despite    the    imitation    of    her    poorly    placed    excitement    on    valentine's    day,    rhiannon    practically    beams    when    she    turns    around.    ❝    there    he    is    !    ❞    she    cheers.    two    drinks    rest    in    her    hands—    whether    she    was    planning    to    double    down    or    find    a    friend    will    never    be    known.    ❝    &    with    impeccable    timing.    take    this.    ❞    she    pushes    one    of    the    frozen    drinks    in    his    hand.    her    own    glass    tilts    out    in    anticipation    of    a    cheers.    ❝    this    can    be    our    pregame.    ❞

gwen’s   laugh   is   raucous   and   joyous   –   “   you’re   crazy.   ”   and   she   means   it   as   a   compliment   in   a   way   only   she   could.   she   should’ve   known   that   nory   would   pull   it   off,   never   should’ve   asked   her   to   slow   down   in   the   first   place.   her   head   swims   with   the   adrenaline   and   even   when   she   reaches   down   to   unbuckle   her   seatbelt,   she   stops   to   give   nory   a   big   smile   and   an   affectionate   punch   to   the   arm.   “   i   think   you   made   your   impression.   ”   the   click   of   her   seatbelt,   the   zip   of   it   pulling   back   into   the   car.   “   now   we   just   gotta   get   out   of   the   car   and   look   hot.   should   be   easy.   ”

                             the    reward    for    a    successful    maneuver    is    gwen's    infectious    laughter,    which    has    nory    grinning    at    her    reflection    as    she    touches    up    her    appearance.    it's    a    night    meant    for    fun,    after    all.    ❝    easy.    they    might    be    too    busy    looking    at    you    anyways.    ❞    she    hums,    before    gathering    her    bag    and    sliding    out    of    the    door.    stepping    into    a    showcase    is    an    addictive    atmosphere,    full    of    people    with    a    shared    passion.    the    only    downside    is    that    everyone    has    their    eyes    on    the    raffle    car.    ❝    objective    one,    drinks.    objective    two,    win    that    car.    ❞

❛    ‘course    i    am.      you’ve    seen    your    bone    structure.    ❜      he    points    a    finger    at    the    cheekbone    high    on    hyunsik's    features.      ❛    what    the    fuck,    man.      that's    just    not    fair.    ❜      lifting    the    fuji    digicam    again,    with    no    warning,    he    snaps    yet    another    picture    of    the    mechanic.      shaking    his    head,    harvey    shoves    the    camera    in    the    other's    direction.      ❛    jesus,    just    look    at    that shit.      you    sure    you're    not    secretly    a    model?    ❜

                             an    amused    laugh    leaves    them    despite    another    blinding    flash.    ❝    you're    ridiculous.    ❞    he    says,    but    accepts    the    camera    anyways.    they    might    have    to    upload    these    on    myspace    later.    ❝    and    one    to    talk.    ❞    a    grin,    and    the    camera    flashes    right    back    at    harvey.    it's    followed    by    a    teasing    shake    of    his    head,    ❝    keeping    that    mug    locked    in    a    supra.    ❞
