Any tips on creating consistent lighting in big scenery pics? Idk like making the colors in a pic match the time of day or mood being conveyed.
I USE A VERY TRIAL AND ERROR SORT OF METHOD HAHA I generally just play around with colors until I think it fits
Something that helps me out a lot is having an under layer of color to set the mood, and then I use a brush with opacity turned on to set the rest of the colors! As the brush is semi-transparent, the under layer bleeds through and helps to keep the overall tone consistent-ish! You can see the final colors are very different, but the ‘base colors’ read similarly i.e. his hair is red, his shirt is white
Here’s a more detailed explanation:
*I like to adjust the color by lightening it/ adding more saturation bc mixed colors tend to come out a bit grey-ish and dull
It’s important to keep in mind that color is relative!!! So for example in the dark image, the color I use for the person isn’t actually orange, but it appears to be so in the purple setting. You don’t always have to use the true color for it to look like said color in a picture! I’M PRETTY SURE you can achieve what I’m talking about here by playing around with layer effects in Photoshop as well !! Though I have never really figured out how to do that so I do it the long way LOL This tutorial here is very helpful for explaining lighting too SO CHECK IT OUT!!! I HOPE IT HELPS A LITTLE!
