The finale of Rick Owens CRUST FW09 collection showing off different version of our black winged jacket.⁠ ⁠ Accompanied by a sculpture by Umberto Boccioni, Unique Forms of Continuity in Space, 1913. Which was a huge inspiration for Rick's fw09 collection in our opinion. ⁠ ⁠ Each look had wings, whether it was on the jackets, skirts or the shoes, a brutalist interpretation of aerodynamics. The surprising choice of whites and icy blues added lightness, a more aerospacean feel (is that even a word? well, it is now)⁠ ⁠ Our black version feels more heavier, a black swan almost. Now online, a spring 2006 Maison Martin Margiela skirt, finished with zigzag edges. ⁠ ⁠ Hard to spot in the lookbook (image 2) but our old rose skirt gives a good close up of the finish. ⁠ ⁠ The spring 2006 season was all about unfinished clothes, such as garments with torn edges, some fabrics were still attached to their original fabric roles. (image 3) Models pushed across the stage by the Staff.⁠ ⁠ Martin really made them work for it during shows, remember those fall 1996 headlights? (image 4) Oof.⁠ ⁠ This skirt is an unfinished garment in the sense that's it's only a lining of a skirt. But without an overskirt it gives the illusion of being worn inside out. We'd love to see the future owner style it under a shorter skirt, making this one have a peekaboo moment on the hemline.
