Gunnhilde is half-dwarf half-giantess. In her original inception, she was a smuggler of magic items between worlds. Though she may often come across as jaded or cold, she is very kind and big-hearted, with a particular soft spot for children.

Astria's story changes in each AU. Sometimes, she is a fierce pirate captain or leiutenant, securing safety and comfortable living for herself and those she deems worthy. One thing remains consistent: she longs for freedom and power. In some AUs she is free, in some she is powerful, in all she is confident, determined, and probably kicking somebody's ass.

They are usually forced together by circumstance, and things may start out rocky. They are both strong-willed, but are able to find empathy for each other through their shared plights, and grow attached to the other. Astria develops for Gunnhilde a fierce protectiveness, when she sees the giantess' more gentle side. Gunnhilde holds for Astria admiration, from the start, and a deep respect, which only grow more strong as the two develop a bond.
