Yung Lean @ The Vogue Theatre - Vancouver, BC December 19th, 2014

How fitting that the first act we photographed in 2014 should also be the last! In the 6 short months since Yung Lean's last visit to Vancouver, the Swedish Cloud Rapper has immeasurably blown up, taking on a far larger venue, tour, and now touting a debut album. Unknown Memory is still one of this publications favourite records. A very large thank-you to ending our year on a high note with an amazing show and wonderful group polaroid!

Drain Gang @ The Vogue Theatre - Vancouver, BC December 19th, 2014

Formerly Gravity Boys Shield Gang, the Stockholm group formed just a year prior in 2013. Comprised of Bladee, Ecco2K, Thaiboy Digital, & Whitearmour, the often collaborations with SBE (Sad Boys Entertainment) saw them joining in on Yung Lean's Unknown Memory Tour as opening acts.

Phantogram @ The Vogue Theatre - Vancouver, BC December 14th, 2014

2014 was a breakout year for Phantogram and they have since gone on to furious acclaim. The show at the Vogue was no less an example of their tight knit music and stage presence with photos mirroring the dynamic color the band likes to shroud itself in. The Mounties & Dear Rouge opened.

My Brightest Diamond @ The Electric Owl - Vancouver, BC December 7th, 2014

An angel in human form, My Brightest Diamond graced Vancouver's now defunct Electric Owl. The Detroit singer-songwriter was touring in support of her fifth studio album This Is My Hand. If you're not familiar with her work, start with La Blogotheque's video of her intimate and tear jerking performance of "I Have Never Loved Someone".

Derrival @ The Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver, BC November 20th, 2014

Vancouver locals Derrival, specifically from Fort Langley, put on a blast at the Commodore Ballroom for their finalist act in The Peak Performance Project. The band ultimately took 2nd place behind Surrey's Good For Grapes, but not without putting on one major show.

Tokyo Police Club @ The Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver, BC  November 15th, 2014

Tokyo Police Club, Ontario indie rock darlings, were at the Commodore Ballroom as part of a Canadian tour. Supporting them were Vancouver's own Said The Whale and The Pack AD.

The Airborne Toxic Event @ Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver, BC  October 24th, 2014

Los Angeles group The Airborne Toxic Event (not to be confused with our previous review of Airbourne) took centre stage at the Commodore Ballroom. The band had just dropped a new single, “Wrong,” prior to their 4th album that the tour was building hype for.

Nick Jonas @ Rogers Arena - Vancouver, BC  October 22rd, 2014

We Day is an annual event featuring star studded musical artists and inspirational speakers. It aims to motivate and encourage young people from all areas to rise to the challenge of being the best they can be, as individuals, as groups, as communities, and more. This years line up featured the likes of Selena Gomez, Orlando Bloom, Shawn Mendes, Jennifer Lopez, Nick Jonas, Spencer West, youth speakers Ashley Rose Murphy and Hannah Alper, and Mustafa the Poet.

Slow Magic @ Celebrities Nightclub - Vancouver, BC  October 17th, 2014

In support of his new full-length album, How To Run Away, Slow Magic stopped at Celebrities Nightclub. The artist kindly put on the best drum circle to ever hit Vancouver, while stunning first time listeners and long time fans alike.

Grieves @ Fortune Sound Club - Vancouver, BC  October 3rd, 2014

Seattle-based rapper Grieves was on tour in support of his Winter & the Wolves tape.  Big thanks to Grieves and company for the behind the stage polaroids with our super fan photographer.

Son Lux @ The Biltmore Cabaret - Vancouver, BC September 23rd, 2014

Experimental electronic musician from New York, Son Lux headlined the Biltmore Cabaret September 23rd with opener, and fellow New York artist, Helado Negro. Their hot single at the time, "Lost it to Trying" has since been completely butchered by Fall Out Boy in an atrocious attempt at sampling. The sampled track does however make it so much more satisfying when going back and listening to the original.

Australian rock band Airbourne (Sorry for the "U", American's) toured across Canada in support of their release, Black Dog Barking from 2013. Ontario-based rockers The Glorious Sons opened the show.

Owen Pallett, a Polaris Music Prize winner, took the stage at the Imperial in Vancouver in support of his release, In Conflict. Openers Foxes in Fiction and Avi Buffalo aided an amazing show.
