while I found the "ooohh, this character is actually iffy and weird but we won't talk about it now, but I'll keep mentioning it before we tackle the subject bcs oohhh the horrors" stick annoying, I do think that the way Irie is handled can be sometimes lackluster in a way, though I also understand it does play into and tease otaku culture as Ryukishi07 liked to do in Higurashi.

Irie liking maids and being into them is all and fine, but considering he wanted to adopt Satoko, and considering her history with her uncle and the way he does think about her (the whole "if she were older he'd sexually abuse her too"), I can see why some people wouldn't like the comments Irie makes about Satoko.

I personally don't care for his ramblings, Keiichi's were better, funnier and more effective as a whole, but I generally don't care too much for him so lol (plus that whole lobotomy thing fmdnfj I understand (kinda) but also... No, thank you).

While I understand why someone would be irked by Irie's obsession with maids (could have been written maybe a bit better imo... it's not as comedic and entertaining when he doesn't have charisma like Keiichi nor is as absurd as that almost-pro baseballer or the whole Angel Mort clientele ganging up in the name of moe), I believe there are a lot of comments and talks from other characters that should have irked them up just as much

I wonder if I should try playing some parts of Higurashi with VA and the OG music, bcs I just left everything as is while playing (except I put the OG sprites bcs they're so kyuuute and expressive and I love them :D)

Thing is, VAs aren't part of the OG experience so it's just a nice extra; and I always wonder if my experience differed ever so slightly bcs I didn't have the OG music on... I liked the new songs though so idk :,( they felt very effective to me, they seems to fit imo but ehhhh

I'm also thinking about this post I saw about how Lelouch is like the white saviour and... honestly, I can see that yeah. I especially noticed in the final battle in S1 when Lelouch just ran away and left everything to the others. They explain that they failed bcs they didn't have the same energy, motivation and harmony without Lelouch's charisma to lead them on with confidence, but like... Tōdo was there, the creator of the Miracle so ?? I thought he would have been able to do something, but I guess not...

I understand that Lelouch's the protagonist but mannn.. oh well

The aspect I do like of this though is that it feeds on the melodrama that is CG bcs it's prince son throwing down his king/emperor father, which is super entertaining to watch.. like, CG as a whole is pretty melodramatic/dramatic which is why I can brush off some of the weirder/odd/non-sense(?) parts of the series... I'm here for the ride and I'm enjoying it
