Merla had a good relationship with one mother and a bad relationship with the other. One, Arella, was a kind hearted woman, who died due to complications having Dyla. Merla calls her “mother.” Her other parent was a cold woman who was only interested in herself. Merla simply refers to her as “that woman” or by her first name, Zenaran.
Dyla was born prematurely, but even if she was carried to term she still would have been a sickly child. To this day she is a very delicate girl, who Merla will protect at all costs.
Unlike Dyla and Merla, Kala had no issues in regards to her health and birth. Not only that, but she hardly resembles her other two sisters. This has led to rumors that perhaps the three sisters don’t all share the same two parents, but that Kala is actually a half sibling to Dyla and Merla.

Dyla, age 15, is a bright and kind girl, despite her rough start to life. She has white hair and dark grey skin.
Dyla and Merla have an odd relationship. Merla is, on one hand, very much devoted to her little sister, but on the other, dismissive of the younger girl’s thoughts and wishes. She sees Dyla as fragile and incapable of taking care of herself, thus needing constant supervision and someone to make decisions for her. Dyla, though she understands where her sister is coming from, grows increasingly frustrated.
There is only one person alive who knows the origin of Merla’s powers, and it’s the woman who Arella had an affair with.
Dyla also has powers like Merla’s, but aside from the Muses teaching her how to rein them in, she doesn’t really know how to use them.

The sky was dark but the air was hot. Each heavy breath tasted metallic, acidic air burning his exerted lungs. But Lance keeps running. Weaving around holes, around debris, around people- some running, too, others not so lucky. The sounds of destruction are everywhere, all consuming and all powerful, unstoppable.
Finally he makes it home. The front door lays useless, ripped from its hinges. The cramped interior is barely illuminated by the chaos outside, which is slowly engulfed by a sharp ringing in his ears.
In the darkness two bright eyes peer back at him, and it's all he can make out of the soldier's face. But he knows that he's being mocked. He knows by the way the soldier's fingers drum against the wooden handle of his father's axe, the bloodied head catching in the dim light.
Lance does what he'd always dreamed of doing- wrapping his fingers around the monster's throat and squeezing. His knees buckle as the gurgling starts, sputtering, gagging. Those eyes are looking up at him bewildered and afraid, and Lance would give anything to see them go dark.
But not like this.
Because as the soldier rasps out something that sounds like "Lance," he realizes the those eyes already are dark. And frantic, brimming with tears.
Keith falls to his knees on the cold tile of the bedroom floor, gagging and trembling. Lance looks between him and his own hands, dazed, then horrified. Ashamed.

Her chest ached as she held her breath so as not to let out a single pathetic sob. Even alone in her room, she wouldn't give the universe the satisfaction. Indignant tears stained her face with mascara none the less.
Her lungs still clung desperately to the scent of honeysuckle. When she closed her eyes she could almost imagine she was still there, in the courtyard outside the ballroom. She could still hear the rustling of leaves, could picture the way the moonlight filtered through them. Giggling, whispering, as she ran her fingertips down Viveca's arm until their hands came together just perfectly. She could still feel Viveca's lips smile against hers.
She wishes she could pause it there, seconds before they were caught. Forever. Never to see her father's disapproving scowl when she was sent home.
It feels as though her ribcage collapses in on itself as a wail tears its way out of her throat. She wanted to scream. To hit, and kick, and scratch, and hurt, like she was hurting.
Romelle began to violently pull on the hairdo Calpurnia had spent so much time on. A few hairpins ping against the stone floor as she yanked and yanked, the braids coming undone, and bun a matted mess. Her finger quickly become entangled and she wrenches her hand free, strands of hair coming with it.
She had stood up at some point during her frenzy and as butchered petals fell from the flowers in her hair, something moved in the corner of her vision.
She turns, owlish, puffy eyes staring back at her. It takes her too long to recognize her own reflection, her once beautiful dress crumpled and grass stained.
"What would your mother say?"
With a great cry she throws the mirror to the ground, the shatter surprisingly cathartic. So much so that it sends her out of her body, out of the moment. Staggering back, she falls to the floor in a heap.
Distantly, she is aware of the knock at her door, the sound of it opening. She doesn't have the energy to look. She doesn't care to look.
A tanned, freckled arm comes into her blurry view as Avok sits beside her.
The silence goes on for a while. He doesn't reach out to her. She would push him away, and he knows it.
"This is going to sound like the dumbest thing you've ever heard in your life," he starts. "But... it'll get better. Not tomorrow, or soon, but at some point the happiness you feel with seem worth today's suffering."
"I hate him." Romelle's voice sounds more heartbroken than angry. "I fucking hate him."
"And you're entitled to. Everything happens for a reason, and sometimes that reason is people can be shitty." He says simply.
There's another long pause.
"Look, I don't want to make you feel like what you're going through isn't real, and awful, and unjust." He says. "I just want you to know that there's more to life than being miserable. Even if the last few years have been hell for us."
"What would you know about any of this?" Romelle snaps, her voice coming out far to weak for her liking. "What would you know about me liking a girl?"
Avok gave a low hum in response.
"I suppose you're right." He concedes. "I wouldn't know the first thing about liking girls."
Allura shifts her weight from foot to foot outside Lance's door. She reaches out, then jerks her hand away before it even comes close to making contact. Nervously she taps her nails against each other as she glances around.
She shouldn't. She wants to, but she shouldn't.
She fights in an intergalactic war, she can do whatever she wants!
Allura flinches at the sound of her own knocking, and she realizes that there isn't really a reason to be banging on the door that hard, but at least now she can't back out.
"Princess?" Lance's voice is rough sounding, like he's half asleep- probably is. There's a beat of silence before he asks, "What's up?"
"I was just-" faking being casual- "hoping you could help me with my hair."
"Your hair? Allura, its-" He looks over to, presumably, a clock on his right, "eleven at night!"
Her face feels as little warm. "I know, but... please?"
Lance sighs, rolling his head around to pop his neck. He waves his hand, ushering her back so he can shut the door. "Alright, but this better not be some sort of prank."
Allura all but squealed, taking him by the hand and all but dragging him up to her quarters. There she threw herself onto a well-frilled stool and kicked out, sending herself spinning to face the large mirrored vanity.
"Okay, so!" She holds a pair of scissors back over her shoulder, puffing out her chest and punctuating her syllables firmly. "I would like you to cut my hair."
She meets Lance's quizical eyes through the mirror. He seems to hesitate grabbing the scissors, but takes them anyway.
"Just trimming split ends, or...?"
"Actually, I was thinking to..." her voice wavers embarrassingly as she raises her hands to just above her shoulders, "about here?"
"Are you sure?" Lance asks, though he doesn't seem as perturbed as she thought he'd be.
"Yes- yes, I'm certain."
"And Nanny and Coran aren't going to kill me?"
"I'll stop them."
Lance snorts out a laugh.
"Do you have a hair tie I can use?"
"Oh! Yes."
Lance slips the pink elastic into her hair with surprising ease, adjusting it lower on her mane until it's where he wants it, before he asks, infuriatingly, "Are you sure?"
'Yes! I'm sure!"
"Okay, hold still."
She shut her eyes tight as Lance puts the scissors into place, and the soft snipping that follows is borderline therapeutic. A literal weight being lifted from her shoulders. A prickly sensation comes against her shoulder and she realizes, grinning brightly, that it's the ends of her hair tickling her. Then the snipping stops, and when she opens her eyes she gasps.
The cut was... odd looking. Straight across and harsh, and...
And it hasn't been this short since she was 12.
She let's out a delighted screeching sound, whipping around to basically tackle her teammate.
"It's so short! I'm going to cry!"
"It's just a haircut, but whatever floats your boat." He says, laughing. "But you really should let me touch it up a little bit."
"Oh! Oh, right."

The next morning, Allura can be found leaning against the wall outside the lounge, taking a deep breath to steady herself before she rounds the corner.
The conversation dies immediately, Coran's bushy brows shooting clear up to his hairline.
"Wowzers!" Pidge is the first to speak- if that counts as a word.
"Digging the haircut!" Hunk says before immediately returning to... whatever convoluted mechanical project he has decided to take over the coffee table with.
"Yeah! It's cute!" Keith adds.
Coran's face quickly settles. "Dis you sleep well?" He asks.
"Yes. Yes I did." Allura replies.
There's a thunderous clattering in the doorway behind her.
"Allura, darling, what have you done?!" Nanny squawks over the supposed loss, stepping over the fallen tray and rushing over, grabbing at the Princess's hair. "It's so- short!"
"YOU!" She whirls around to face Lance as she rolls up her sleeves. "You must have done this!"
"Who am I to deny a royal request?" He replies smoothly, putting his hands up in a mock surrender.
"It's not a big deal, Nanny!" Allura, rolls her eyes- actually rolls her eyes- at her governess, who sputters.

Felt so betrayed when Romelle just... left in the night to go back to Doom. He understood he desire to fight for justice but he needed her by his side so badly
When he was little he so badly wanted to have long hair like Romelle. They’d have to chase him down in order to cut his hair until eventually his father just said screw it and let him grow it out. He ended up cutting it all off when he was about 11 when he decided he was a Big Boy TM.

Over all, she isn’t considered traditionally beautiful.
Lady Zeeb was the one who originally styled her hair like that. It’s a pretty old fashioned, classic look for Polluxian women… and pretty much the only thing Lady Zeeb knows how to do with hair.
Her and Lady Zeeb bonded over being the only two blondies in the royal court.

It was a whirlwind romance, however. Amue had Coba wrapped around her finger.
Her death destroyed him emotionally, and he wanted nothing more than to punish Arus, blaming them for her death.

The reason Romelle knows the key to Pollux's defenses and Bandor doesn't is bc Avok, next in line for the throne, had entrusted that secret to Romelle before he became a robeast... just in case
Bandor and Romelle personally clean and maintain Avok's room. It's like a shrine.

The knife Romelle gave Sven was actually a set of 3, the other two belonging to Bandor and Avok. Romelle's was destroyed in that fight, and Avok's is MIA
After Romelle returned from Doom, Bandor asked her to rule with him. She said she wasn't ready to be back in the public eye enough to rule.
Romelle and Bandor were left in the dark about most of the details of Avok becoming a robeast, and even Avok didn't know about the plan to betray Doom.
Sometimes, when they were having particularly rough days, the three would get together and read a book. Avok would start, then pass the book to Romelle, then to Bandor... who had a habit of adding lines to make them laugh
