Convenience Store- Billie Eilish x f!reader (part 1)
au college billie & reader, suggestive themes, fem lesbian reader, swearing, mentions of partying & alcohol
came up with this idea while playing a roblox supermarket simulator game with my girlfriend so⌠enjoy!
the overhead lighting and the soft buzz of the fridges surrounding you is enough to drive you insane. youâve been working for almost six hours now and could count the amount of customers youâve had on one hand. which, you assume, is probably typical for a day shift on a Wednesday, but youâre used to your weekend shifts, where your classmates hurriedly purchase different sorts of junk, alcohol, and nicotine for whatever upcoming party theyâre going to attend that night.
you wouldnât let anyone know, but you love those shifts. not because of the rush, or for the fact that your shift certainly goes by quicker when itâs busy, but because you always get to see her.
Around campus, sheâs known to be a dick. a player whoâs slept and fucked with so many girls, everyone you ask will give you a different number.
âi heard itâs actually lower than we think, and she just wants us to think sheâs fucked a bunch of girlsâ
ânah, itâs totally like in the 50âs or some shitâ
âi heard she has a goal of making it to 100, and sheâs almost thereâ
regardless of what everyone else says, she was a completely different person when she stepped into the old, small convenience store.
she was sweet, and if you really paid attention, it would almost seem as if she was shy sometimes. she wouldnât make her typical shameless, corny pick up lines youâve heard her make on other girls during parties, and she never made any overtly sexual jokesâeven though youâve heard that those are her âspecialty.â
at first you were a bit offended. you know youâre attractive, and youâve been with a decent amount of girls, especially since college started, so why wasnât she hitting on you?
eventually, you got over that and came to be grateful that she never made things awkward between the two of you, and you grew to like the mini-friendship you guys had cultivated over the past few weeks.
as if she knew you were thinking about her, the door chimes and you look up just in time to see her walking in, her face scanning the store for yours.
âbillie on a wednesday? thats unusualâ you tease, and you canât tell if her grin is from seeing you, or from your sly comment.
âran out of snacks in my dorm, need to restockâ she shrugged, shoving her hands in her pockets. âyou working weekdays now too?â
you nod, âyeah, weâre super short staffed and i could use the extra cash. i didnât think iâd be seeing you today.â
she laughs a little under her breath, if she was forced to be honest she wouldâve told you that she didnât think so either. she hadnât even been planning on coming into the store since she figured you wouldnât be working, but she saw your face through the window during her walk and couldnât help herself. she wouldâve told you that her snack bin is actually completely full- towering over the sides and thereâs no possible way to fit anything else inside, but she needed an excuse to see you earlier than friday.
âwell, you got luckyâ
you roll your eyes and she smirks, knowing youâre faking the annoyance.
âââââââââ
âwhat kind of snacks are you looking for?â you ask after a while of watching her aimlessly walk around the store.
she pauses, and if you didnât know any better youâd think that was panic written across her face, âoh. i dunno, looking for something new to try i guess. i wonât be too much longerâ
you hum softly, âdonât worry about it. im bored out of my mind, youâd be doing me a favor if you stayed the rest of my shift to be honest. and the starburst gummies are really good if you wanna try those.â
billieâs ears perk up, her mind already rearranging her schedule for the rest of the day.
âoh yeah? how much longer are you here for?â
you check your phone and groan, âtwo more full hoursâ
âwell, i donât have any plans,â that was a lieâshe was supposed to be on her way to meet up with her frat friends, but theyâd be fine without her.
you like your time with billie, the seamless back and forth and the teasing always brightens your day and fills your thoughts until your next interaction, but youâve never spent more than 30 or 40 minutes with her, and the idea of her staying for the remainder of your shift is simultaneously exciting and nerve wracking.
âokâŚyeah, thatâd be nice actually, thanksâ
âyouâre welcome, gives me something to do instead of sitting on my ass all day,â she lies.
She had a pretty busy day today, meeting up with her friends, the gym after, then some studying she had to do, and if she felt like it after, a quick meet up with any of the girls on her phone.
But she was willing to push all that back for two hours with you.
She didnât know what it was about you, you were beautiful, that much was obvious, but it was more than that, looks were never enough to make Billie flustered. It was your personality, the way you treated her like a regular person instead of someone you just wanted to spend a night with, how easily you could keep up with her banter, and how your humor matched up perfectly with hers. She liked the way you dressed and did your hair and makeup, she liked the sound of your laugh and how kind you were to everyone. she had no idea how it happened, and would never in a million years admit it, but billie liked hanging out with you. a lot.
âsoâŚhow long have you been working today?â she quips, leaning against the counter, and popping open the bag of starburst gummies she had grabbed.
âi started at 8 today, and you still have to pay for those yâknowâ
she reaches into her pocket and hands you a crumpled pile of ones, âthere yaâ goâ she mumbles, her mouth full of gummies.
âyouâre nastyâ you remark as you smooth out the bills. âand why the hell do you have so many ones?â
she snorts, which is immediately concealed by an obnoxiously fake cough, âwouldnât you like to knowâ she grins, leaning closer to you.
âi secretly work the poles every weekendâ she whispers loudly, her eyes glistening as she jokes with you.
âuh huhâŚwhich poles exactly are you working? arenât strip clubs like dead now?â
she gasps in fake offense, âdead? theyâre thriving, i revived themâ she rolls her eyes, âduhâ
the two of you go back and forth for the rest of your shift, switching from her teasing you and you pretending to be annoyed, to you making witty jokes that leave her flustered and unable to come up with a reply. and before you know it, itâs time for you to clock out.
âdone already?â billie asks, desperately trying to hide the disappointment in her tone, âwe were just getting startedâ
you laugh from the break room, although admittedly, you arenât ready for your time together to be done either, âim ready to get the hell out of here,â you pause for a second before working up the courage to ask, âhey, do you wanna grab something to eat?â
billie looks up, her mouth slightly agape at your question.
âyou know what, youâre probably full from those gummies, im sorryâ you wave off your question, suddenly embarrassed for asking.
âno! no, no, im starving actually. do you want pizza?â
you look up at her, and for whatever reason, even though sheâs never been rejected before in her life, she can feel her heart cave in at the possibility of you saying no, âyeah, pizza sounds great right now. let me just grab my stuffâ you respond, turning to grab your purse.
she lets out a soft breath she didnât know she was holding, and reaches over to open the door for you as you both make your way out.
âmâladyâ she teases and you laugh, thanking her as you walk out of the store, the cool, october air hitting your face.
you were both silent for a while, letting yourselves fall into the pattern on walking next to each other, just enjoying the others company and listening to the sound of the soft breeze hitting the trees that are quickly growing bare.
âso, whenâs your next shift?â billie asks you, her eyes staying on her shuffling feet.
âfriday in the evening, the usual. will i see you?â
she nods hurriedly, âyeah iâve got a party that night, i need to grab some stuff for itâ
this time, she wasnât lying. billie eilish never, ever, missed a party.
you let out a soft hum, âlike dental dams?â
billie pauses and looks up at you, âexcuse me?â she countered, her tone light and filled with surprise, she had never heard you make a crude joke before, but she liked seeing this side of you.
âim joking, obviouslyâŚbut isnât that kind of your like, specialty?â
she rolls her eyes and pushes you softly, âwhatever,â she mumbles and you grin at the fact that youâve finally gotten under her skin.
the walk for the rest of the way is silent again, aside from the occasional crunch of a leaf. you donât think much of it, figuring you were both comfortable and just ran out of topics to converse about, but in reality, it was because billie was panickingâinternally.
she didnât want you to think of her as the girl who only cares to get into other girls pants, even though technically, thatâs what sheâs been. she didnât have any plans on asking you out or trying to be with you, that wasnât her thing, but she certainly wanted you to think higher of her than you did.
so she started thinking of ways to make that happen, she would try and see you during your shifts more often and maybe try and make an effort to see you after as well. maybe, if she was lucky, sheâd be able to get your number and actually get to talk to you without being surrounded by chips and alcohol, and the flickering overhead lights of the old convenience store.
it was completely unlike her, and she had no idea why she was doing all of this simply because she liked being around you, but once the idea was planted there was no going back.
thankfully, what would now be the first step of her plan was initiated by you- pizza after work. and even though you had no idea about any of what was going on in billieâs mind, she was determined to make sure you had a good time.
and hopefully, leave you wanting more.
