Kanou in his youth was an extremely intelligent and curious child. Everything he saw, he would inquire about; where plants came from, what bugs do, how certain creatures do certain things while others couldn’t. His parents however, were extremely busy. His father, Takahiro Kisaragi, was up-til-then, the working CEO of Kisaragi Pharmaceuticals, having taken over his own father’s position, the same man who founded the company. With Kanou’s birth, it was more or less determined he was going to take over when he was of age, and with how much of a prodigal genius he was, his parents figured he’d usher the right kind of change into the world. The only issue was, he didn’t have much affection. His mother was stern and his father was rarely there, and a lot of his time consisted of tutoring, practice of the arts, and a whole lot of shit that kept him eternally busy. As he grew up, he compared his family to that of other’s and began to notice there was a huge difference in how they behaved compared to norm. For example, they never ate dinner together, were usually in separate rooms and his birthdays, although grandiose, would only really have his parents there in small times here and there. Overall though, he did get along with them, but they did clash more as he was older. It was ultimately the reason why he poisoned his own father.

He was spoiled though, it was more so though he was spoiled as a reward for doing well. Any high grade marks, any compliments he received from his teachers almost always yielded a reward. Also the fact he was the only child also added to his spoiling.

He had friends here and there, but he’d lose touch with them whenever they no longer had anything in common. As he was older though, he kept friends around for more superficial means-- it showed he was popular and helped with his appearance, but otherwise he didn’t care for any of them.

The only meaningful relationships he’s actually had are with his former college girlfriend, their college classmate, and with Watanabe. Everyone else, he lies to them flawlessly and many of them think they’re his good buddies, whereas he couldn’t give a rat’s ass about them.

But unfortunately, one is dead, one he barely speaks to, and the other is the closest to meaningful in the present as she holds his entire schedule in her hands.

His college classmate though, he keeps around because he’s amused by him. He’s a dumb ass ‘hick’ and seeing their stark difference is something Kanou always like to observe. Also, as a freebie.

“Your toy? He’s my brother, and he was having a mental breakdown, no thanks to you.”

There were quite a few different factors contributing to it… But he doubted Kanou was any good influence, if the past week was any indicator. 

“Miss Watanabe, please give the proper instructions to our temporary hire,” he request of his trusted assistant-- the woman in turn nodding before returning to her own work space.

With her gone, the man swiveled his chair to get a view of the city, legs crossed as a smirk grew on his lips.

(He stared - curiosity really would be his downfall again one day. Bone melted and reformed into something new, and a knife was now where her hand once was.)

(Even someone like himself had to recognize the work of a genius. A kindred spirit, perhaps.)

…Can you turn that into any weapon? 

(Another ding and the elevator stopped once more. He didn’t move, instead letting it move on up to the third floor.)

(Elevators were so exciting.)

(Answering his curiosity, her arm went through another transformation, going from an elongated blade to something more similar to a saw. And seemingly taking no effort in doing so.)

.......

(The blade whirred briefly, only to change back to normal-- her arm falling to her side. Tanaka’s attention then returned to the elevator.)

.... Lots of floor.

(He raised his eyebrows in surprise as the elevator dinged to a stop - the first floor. He didn’t leave, instead peeking out into the hallways, and darting his head back in when the doors began to close once more. )

(As quickly as his attention was taken did it return.)

That’s amazing, little ghost. Does it hurt?

(She shook her head. Truth be told, in the beginning it had been excruciatingly painful. Even with the injections meant to numb the pain, it still remained. It just wasn’t as bad... and she’d gotten accustomed to it.)

...

Ghosts, huh?

(Now that caught his attention. He knew in any building like this, someone was bound to have died. While it likely wasn’t the truth - as of now, he sensed no undead presences - he would be keeping an eye out. That was one of his favorite things, after all. Dead people.)

Are you the ghost?

(It was a cheeky little quip. Both a joke and a legitimate question. He wondered, did she see herself as such? Because the presence coming off of her wasn’t human.)

(He didn’t know what it was.)

(Being the first of her kind, there was a lot she could do-- and similarly, a lot she couldn’t do. One of them of course, was she lacked the ability to sense anyone that was supernatural and so all Henri appeared to her as, was a human who was becoming far too curious for their own good.)

(He grins as the elevator starts to go up. Weren’t they so exciting? Caused a sense of invigorating vertigo!)

What? I like to ride in them. 

(A pause, before he spoke again.) 

My name’s Keshav Chaalaak. I’m a little new here, and I left my paperwork… somewhere… Hehe, that’s a bit of a screw up for my first day here, huh?

(Hs tone was so casual, as if he wasn’t lying through his teeth. Even the name he gave was fake, but he liked to have all of his bases covered.)

Who are you? I don’t think I saw you around today? Orrrrr are you just some kid that was messing around in here? That can be pretty dangerous, you know!

(He was as much of a charming liar as her creator, which is why it didn’t take her much to see right through them. Tanaka had seen Kanou lie through his teeth time and time again; whether it was to the public or even people he held close. This man was no different.)

.....

(Asuka stared as he responded, saying nothing until he was done speaking.)

-- Ghost.

(It was her usual excuse during the nighttime, having run into a couple of the guards during these hours. Even as he lied, she didn’t execute him as she’d usually been expected to. Perhaps.... perhaps curiosity had gotten the better of her.)

(That worked? Good. Whether she believed it or not, she seemed to be letting him inside. If she asked again, he would just say he left some paper work somewhere…)

(The only issue was he had no idea how to navigate the building. Oh well! He could say he was new.)

(Meandering his way inside, he glanced at her out of the corner of artificially brown eyes. She was following him? Hmmm, that could be an issue! He’d keep track of where he was and think of an escape plan if anything happened. For now, though… He wanted to snoop!)

(Immediately, as he walked through, his attention was caught by an elevator. He may have despised humans, but oh did he love the tech! It wasn’t quite as devious as the Orban tech, but Morstika didn’t have anything like this either. Ah… he already had to buy Enoch a new microwave after ruining his. He couldn’t help that it was fun to watch, though.)

(When he entered the elevator… he pressed every single floor button. Every. Single. One.)

(She followed, ensuring he didn’t wander into anywhere he wasn’t supposed to. As long as he kept away from the places not even the nightguard entered, she’d leave him untouched.)

(Curiosity plagues her as he enters the elevator, and she too enters as well.-- And although her face didn’t show it, the second he pressed every single floor button.. she became confused. This man was a weirdo, wasn’t he.)

(He observed her, pausing for a moment. Ah, so she was like.. a machine, maybe? He briefly wondered if she was a being similar to the golems he once sought after so long ago.)

(…she didn’t seem that bright.)

An intruder? Oh no, dear, I work here. 

(The lie rolled easily off his tongue, and he could only hope she believed it. If not, well, he was more than certain he would be able to protect himself with magic if he so needed it.)

(She stared further, using any common sense she had to determine if what he said was true. He worked there.. If that was accurate he’d have one of those hats right? And a jacket and pants the same color to match too...)

Yes? Do you have something to say or are you just going to stare?

(She’s staring. There were six other people Kanou had told her to keep unharmed, and it was the measly six nightguards that kept an eye on everything.)

‘Remember not to kill the nice men in uniform!’

(Was that a uniform? It seemed to funny looking to be a uniform.)

Okay little Miss Tanaka! Papa has to go now hm? You make sure to hold the fort down while Miss Watanabe and I take our leave, yes?

(And before he leaves the company building to her care, he gives her head a big ass pat.)
