lmaooooooo look at this fool jestermaxxing 👆🏽 the tan diamonds were naturally dyed using cutch and madder. the colorful patchworks are a mix of naturally dyed fabric and commercial solids! see if you can guess what came from the store and what came from the earth. i hand quilted this bastard on the train from nyc to pittsburgh
ok ok, here are the other digitally printed panels i quilted. these are prints of an old illustration of mine. these are not applique! but the borders were pieced separately and the central panels were quilted by hand.
SIX, that's right, SIX small quilts i made in May this year. they're varying sizes, but all around 10" across (except the last one, the granny square; that's about 14"). these are all made using fabric i naturally dyed in my kitchen using things like osage, madder, cutch, wattle, black walnut, knotweed, goldenrod... some modified with iron or soda ash. playing with color and making sure scraps don't go to waste!
"Gettin' a Hand on the Future", i guess? machine pieced the diamonds and machine applique'd the hand, but the flower itself is done by hand. also hand quilted! the brown diamonds were naturally dyed using cutch and madder, and there are a few other naturally dyed fabrics in the rest of the patchwork. the backing (not photographed) was dyed with goldenrod!

two fellas from a comic project i'm working on... calling it "quilt yaoi" for now. please welcome secret sadist sewing instructor Mary and washed-up tattoo artist turned graphic designer Lucky! illustration inspired by a quilt found in “Folk Quilts and How to Recreate Them” by Audrey and Douglass Wiss. inked with a g nib and added tones digitally.
small thing i made a month or two ago cuz i had to find SOMETHING to do. machine pieced and hand quilted! playin' with color
wall hanging for my brother! naturally dyed with cute, osage, madder, and knotweed. first forray into naturally dyeing things in my kitchen, using a combination of dye techniques and modifiers. machine pieced, hand appliqued and quilted; roughly 15” square. excited to do way more of this kind of thing :')
project i finished last year. the center panel is screen printed with a photo of my mom's curry trees + a shape pattern i designed. the same shape pattern and photo were screen printed on the blue fabric used for the surrounding piecing. hand quilted while i was standing around at various comic shows and anime cons.
SEETHING quilt i finished earlier this year. it's about 12" square. the center panel is a digital print of my ~iconic~ plant drawing. the borders are machine pieced and the center is hand quilted ^_^

i realized that i never posted YINZ CITY ISSUE 6 on tumblr... so here's a preview! YOU CAN READ THE WHOLE THING AT WWW.YINZ.CITY BY CLICKING HERE!!
physical copies available on etsy!
Seti Marimbe might be the flakiest guy in town, but he's doing his best to keep his current relationship afloat. The problem is, he can't figure out why nothing he does seems to work -- or if he even wants it to. Maybe with his best friend's support, Seti can find a way to make everyone happy. He should probably start by actually learning the right names.
a 52-page black and white comic about dating, learning how to ask for advice, and trying to watch David Cronenberg movies.
YC6 is loosely inspired by a Cronenberg movie, though which one is a spoiler >:^) it was supposed to be a funny satire, but people keep telling me it's scary. i guess this is the first entry in YINZ CITY as a horror series...

hello! so i did a presentation on your "my gender is a triangle" comic 4 school and i would like to make the presentation into a video format to post online. however i understand that people were fucking insane in the replies of that comic and i wanted to check with you if its cool that i make this into a video online. totally fair if not! fr that comic has haunted me in such a good way for the past 10 years and i am obsessed with it!! thank you for making it! i hope you are having a good day :)
haha, the other day i was just thinking about this comic and how whack people were about it! you beamed your vibes straight into my brain.
but anyway, hell yea that's sick! feel free to make the video, i would love to see it when you post it. i'm happy my comic had such an impression on you... thanks so much for carrying it with ya in your brain all these years <3
finished my Poppin Posies quilt (pattern by Maude, the Retro Quilter) after two years! pieced using Suzy Quilts' "Duval" fabric line with scraps and yardage from my stash. i used the wrong fabric for the binding (which turned out wonky lol), but that's ok. the backing is a thrifted bedsheet. hand quilted. Henri likes this one a lot but he hasn't attacked me over it (yet).

this is my "Sorry, i Forgot" quilt that i originally started as a gift and then forgot about for a year (or two). the backing is two different fabrics cuz i'm trying to cut down my stash this year. rushed to finish this in time to be shown at the Pittsburgh Folk Fest, which is why the quilting is a little jank :')
practicing drafting my own blocks + yardage! hand quilted. based on a painting of Kit Kitterson from my comic, YINZ CITY.
