Broken Bow Cabins

The Blue Rooster is the newbie as far as restaurants in the Hochatown area, founded in 2012, and it’s quickly becoming it’s own destination.  The owner, Suzie Carper, has always loved southern style cooking for friends and family, and dreamed of sharing her recipes with the rest of the world for a long time.  She is in her element here.  With moist, crunchy chicken and fish, and imaginative fried vegetables like okra, squash, pickles and jalapenos, using fresh ingredients from her home garden while in season.  You’ve never tasted cole slaw like this, if you order the fish it’s a must.  Everything is home-made, even the tartar sauce.  Her salads are fresh, innovative and just as pleasing if you aren’t in the mood for fried food, but you really must try it all. Her fried pies, from apple to cherry will find you making room for dessert.  She offers a variety of sodas and bottled beers, both domestic and imports. The atmosphere is southern in the best way, with a large wrap around porch for outside dining and live music.  The seating is spacious, the feeling is light and airy.  It’s especially good for big groups because of the large seating areas.  The setting is family friendly, and people come in dressed for dinner, though It is casual enough that you can come in your flip flops right from the lake.  They do take reservations, and walk-ins are welcome.  If the game is on, you can sit at the generously sized wooden bar and pop tops while you cheer on your team. The service is friendly and attentive.  The prices are $$ (about $10-$30) which is comparable with the area.  They also offer take out if you’d rather eat at your cabin in Broken Bow.

The Moonshine River Retreat Broken Bow Cabin is the latest edition to the new development in Hochatown, named Rock Hill Park, finished in February of 2013. This luxury cabin is conveniently located minutes from the State Park and bordered by the Ouachita National Forest. The cabin’s name was inspired by the area’s rich history and culture of making Moonshine during the Prohibition period. The interior of the cabin is both rustic and serene, with all of the amenities you might expect from a vacation home. At 1100 square feet, the cabin features a full sized washer and dryer, two full bathrooms, and two bedrooms with queen beds. It sleeps 4 comfortably. The living area boasts a 40” flat-screen television and satellite, plus free wireless internet service. The dining area is separate and large enough for 6 people, looking out onto the back porch and the beautiful forest. The kitchen boasts brand new appliances, including a large gas range and oven, microwave, refrigerator with ice maker, dishwasher, coffee maker, blender, and even a crock pot for easy meals. All you need to bring is food: utensils, cookware, dinnerware are all provided. Starbucks coffee is also offered, as well as a bottle of wine from the local winery. The wrap around granite countertop, lighting fixtures, and unique decor make this kitchen, and cabin, a show-stopper. The cabin is pet-friendly to crated pets. The porch is 850 square feet and much of it is screened in, including the hot tub area, which seats 2-3 with a “cool-out” seat. Plenty of outdoor seating is offered in both the front and back areas. Parking is spacious enough for ATVs and boats. A large fire pit, horseshoe pit, and gas grill make for plenty of family activities to enjoy right outside your door. In fact, you’ll be minutes away from the Beavers Bend Resort Park (with a restaurant, museum, and horse riding trails, even a kiddie train during peak months) the Broken Bow Lake and Marina, Beavers Bend Wildlife Museum, hiking, biking, and ATV trails. For the anglers in your group you have both the lake and the gorgeous Mountain Fork trout-fishing river (stocked regularly) with areas for the novice as well as the serious fly fishermen. If you need equipment, there is a complete fly-fishing outfitter nearby. In the summer months, the river has a float area, and several kayak and canoe rentals.

The Adirondack Cabin just minutes from Beavers Bend State Park and Broken Bow Lake is a 2BR/2BA cabin that sleeps 6. The master bedroom has a single queen bed and features a beautiful porch with a large hot tub. The second bedroom has 2 queen size beds, just right for the kids. The living room is open, with comfortable seating decorated with Adirondack mountain décor.
