Wagstaff refused to let WX’s human body go and kept it alive, preventing them from fully completing their transition. Even though WX had clearly moved on he refused to let that last little bit go, even seemingly going out of his way to keep creating the coma potion. Acting cordial with their body and keeping it near his work station, even though he treated them awfully and stranded them in the constant he still has the audacity to cling on to the person they used to be. And it’s only when he is dead that WX is finally able to leave the comatose body behind and fully become themselves with the people who accept them for who they are and don’t cling onto a specter of who they used to be.
