my take on the au "Rocky/eridian scientists secretly extend Grace's lifespan" is that. It would mean that once again, Grace has medical experiences decided FOR him, out of his control, re the forced coma or (if we go by book canon), the amnesia drugs. I enjoy the au not for wholesome reasons but for decidedly evil ones lolol. Would Rocky, traumatised by loss, so co-dependent with Grace that he cannot bear losing him, and desperate to "fix" every problem, go against Grace's knowledge? Maybe. Would Grace, on learning what was done to him, have the biggest blow up since the Denmark incident? Oh yeah baby. And this time, alllllll directed at his best friend in the universe. Because, deep down (probably subconsciously), Grace will always have those doubts. "I trusted someone before and they violated my autonomy in every possible way. What's the chances it'll happen again? I'm at the mercy of the Eridians here in the bio-dome, but they'd never abuse that power dynamic... right?" Oooohhh it's the opposite of a sweet, funny au. It's Grace's nightmares come alive. Crucially, even if Grace WANTS to live longer, it would be such a manifestation of his trauma that I feel it would create a massive rift between him and Rocky. But also, it would force them to both recognise why this has happened: Rocky, unable to let go, and Grace, unable to trust.
@entomancy I feel similarly tbh, the funniest (and most wholesome) possible way for this AU to stay lighthearted is for it to be a total accident, and for both Grace and the Eridians to be utterly baffled when Grace stops aging.
There is a really good fic on AO3 called Aging Gracefully that handles this concept very well.

I loved that one scene in the comic where both Toriel and Kris (as far as I can remember) were waiting for asriel to come back from college and suddenly kris finds Frisk attached to their leg while chatting with their brother, and then they hugged in happiness. I DREW IT IN MY STYLE BECAUSE IT WAS SO CUTEEE (i uh changed some stuff..ik it doesn't look the same I drew it from memory gulp)

Idk if theres been anything said about it, but theres a total of 36 lives (12x3, 35 if you take the one martyn lost in the first episode)
So far the only way to lose a life is in the arena, with only one fight per episode. What do you think is the most likely way for this to go, since theres no way this smp is running well over half a year?
I think its most likely that something will change in the arena fights (multiple fighters at once, multiple rounds, etc), or possibly the maze/something outside has something that can take a life (although cleo has already died to the minotaur without losing a life)
Or of course theres the option of they all somehow choose friendship like in vampires and bannerfall again
I've been thinking about this as well! there's no way that they can keep the fights to a single 1v1 a session, so my guess is that future episodes will have multiple rounds of fights like you said, or it'll be 1v1v1 or 2v2, or something similar. I could also see them introducing some kind of non-player boss to fight as well (sort of like the Creaking King in Bannerfall).
the maze might also take canon lives once the challenge is properly introduced (Owen and Apo actively avoided it in their first episodes, so my guess is that it might be established later as a place to win big rewards, but at the risk of losing a canon life). honestly, I'd love to see more obstacles or fights or other challenges in the future, and I'm excited to see what they've got planned for next time!
though I'm pretty confident that there'll be no way to choose friendship and let everyone win in this one. Owen's sat through two finales (Vampires and Bannerfall) where the two feuding sides decide to work together and save as many lives as possible, and he's clearly decided that will NOT be the case for Pantheon SMP. only one winner, everyone else returns to the Underworld… the only thing that can foil his plans is if someone decides to wish for everyone else to be alive or something, lol.
