I can't really say how common it is cause I feel I'd need to talk to many women who are/were into yaoi and then realized they liked RR, but my personal assumption is that I think that yes, that must happen quite a lot. I was never too into yaoi but I did watch my fair share of gay porn back in the day because I couldn't stand mainstream M/F porn, and understanding myself now I can see it was because I enjoyed seeing a man be allowed to submit to someone else, even if it wasn't a woman. 100% there from an early age.
